So it has come to pass.

And there we have it. No more 4+ shunting wounds all over. Not to mention the hefty change to Look Out, Sir!...which is now "the closest model in the unit" instead of "any model within 6" and in the same unit".

Paladins are still a tough nut to crack: I engaged five of them (five!) with two full units (including Corbulo, a Terminator Apothecary, and a Terminator Librarian) last Thursday and I won...with only Corbulo and a sergeant left standing. And it took them two and a half game turns of combat to do it...constantly breaking and charging back in (or being charged). My opponent refused to use the 4+ LOS! on them, feeling it was cheeky. They did have an apothecary, he did accept a challenge with a Daemon Hammer Paladin...so some small changes there. As in, I couldn't have been able to tie that hammer up in a challenge and would've taken hammer hits to the unit (and probably lost).

Yeah, my game will be 1500pts kill point against Ork, so maybe i'll only change it a little bit by adding an apothecary. Even maybe a libby with stave.

Anyway, bad timing for the faq.

But I'm impress by what they actually answered in it. They did cover a lot of things, event the wolf power hitting flyers thingie!

Good job GW! They seems to be on a good path on their update.

wow, GW finally made a faq that answered questions people had, I'm shocked!

Also change to Look out sir for paladins, not a complete surprise, more a surprise they actually answered it :P

Nurglez, I'm very interested in hearing your evaluation on the impact of these changes (on Paladins and Draigowing). I suspect they may be substantial?

You can still shuffle wounds around on Paladins, just not in the same turn. Everytime you move you will have to re-position so a new model is closest to Draigo. Although that does lead me to ask a question: If there are multiple models that are closest and equidistant to Draigo, can you pick each time which one does the LOS?

Indeed they will change how Draigowing works, but it is fairer (I didn't feel that all paladins having a 4+ look out sir was fair, however until they faqed it that was how I was going to play it).

I haven't played that much 6th, our gaming group is enjoying malifaux at the moment, however I do have 2 tournaments in October (1850 and 1500) so I will start playing again with them soon. I still intend to use a pure paladin wing, as my army is the best of the best, and they don't need any help from anyone (apart from an inquisitor in terminator armor who they "assist"). I'll update my tactic's thread once I start playing again :D

My favourite!

Q: Does a Nemesis Dreadknight armed with a Nemesis greatsword have

4 Attacks at Strength 10 that, because of the Nemesis greatsword, can

re-roll To Hit, To Wound and Armour Penetration rolls?(p54)

A: Yes.

Though, I don't think I'll be spending the 25 points anytime soon...

maybe though...

I play a paladin death star in almost all my games.

I don't mind loosing look out sir for the unit, as Draigo positioning was more important than, the times a unit manages to pull a flanking maneuver.

I don't mind loosing precision shot., although it was cool.

I don't mind loosing character status for challenges, although sometimes you just need to be able to accept with a thunder hammer, now any old sergeant can shut Draigo down for a turn.

I do mind the change to look out sir, now i have to put my psycannons even further back in the unit loosing even more range, plasma becomes massively more dangerous, if you want to shuffle models around in the movement phase your going to loose movement distance, you cant reliably put instant death wounds on wounded models when Draigo has taken a beating.

I do mind not getting feel no pain vs st 10 because I'm an eternal freaking warrior.

I mostly mind however that GW has changed the core rules, because people were using powerful characters to control how their units died, making death stars actually have a chance vs the firepower of the 41st millenium for once, and giving them some degree of viability over MSU. Now i have a collectors edition rule book that I will always look at knowing rules in it are not correct. This was not an FAQ, this was changing the rules, and it infuriates me, the same way the tyranid codex FAQ insulted that race.

I mostly love that GW has changed the core rules because people were using them in ways that they (stupidly) had not anticipated and that were, to put it mildly, cheesier than Stinky Bishop.

The content of the FAQ seems OK, but, to be brutally honest, I am :cussing livid about its timing.

Having spent £45 on a rulebook, and £65 on a boxset with a rulebook in it, they FAQ it, and the wording in my nice shiny rulebooks is arse biscuits.

Matt Ward, you're the rule writing equivalent of Windows Vista. Shiny and :cusse.
