14)wolf gaurd no longer characters BRB faq

I know it's nit-picking, and I still agree that WG are NOT 'characters' until divided into pack leaders, but no where in the new FAQ does it specifically say that they're not 'characters'... rather they claim that only when split into pack leaders are they then definitively 'characters', leaving us to ONLY infer that prior to becoming a pack leader they were not 'characters'.

It's sort of a rule of omission, but imo will still get idiots arguing for their pack of WG characters.

Page 86 – Wolf Guard, Pack Leaders

Add the following sentence to the end of the paragraph:

“Furthermore, a Wolf Guard Pack Leader’s Unit Type becomes

‘Character’ in addition to its normal type.

Also, I'm glad they made the distinction of the WP's power maul crozius... though it saddens me. I would've liked to play around with the loophole. However, I'm still irked that Ragnar is weak against AP2 and Njal is mastery lvl 2, when Meph is lvl 3.. but w/e.

I think it's interesting that they define Njal's weapon as "Runic weapon (stave)", but I can't see anywhere else that Runic Weapons have physical properties beyond being Unusual Force Weapons, e.g. counting as Swords, Axes etc.

That is of course, unless I've missed something!

Do you think we'll end us seeing this in the future for all Runic Weapons?

The thing is the new FAQ doesn't touch on this at all...so we still have the same argument as we did before.

Any inference made, though, is directly in conflict with RAW. Until they come out and say "WG are not characters" they are characters, per the BRB, regardless of their status as a pack leader or a squad member.

Add the following Designer’s Note:.

Designers Note: Wolf Guard, Nobz, Nobz Warbikers, and Crisis

Shas’vre that lead a unit (for example an Ork Nob leading Ork

Boyz, a Wolf Guard leading Grey Hunters) have the unit type

Infantry (Character).

Change unit type to Infantry

Here is what is in the BRB FAQ. Have at it...

I'm so happy they removed the "units of all Characters" thing, even if it went away for units of purely Wolf Guard.

The BRB FAQ also clean up questions on Challenges and Look Out Sir rolls, and even changed a rule - if you pass Look Out Sir the model closest to the Character dies!

The question I submitted about the Wolf Standard applying to Overwatch rolls is in there word for word!

Q: How do Maelstroms, Novas and Beams– or indeed any weapon

that doesn’t need to roll To Hit or hits automatically – interact with Flyers

Zooming and Gliding Flying Monstrous Creatures ? (p13)

A: Only Snap Shots can hit Zooming Flyers and Gliding

Flying Monstrous Creatures. Therefore, any attacks that use

blast markers, templates, create a line of/area of effect or

otherwise don’t roll to hit cannot target them. This includes

weapons such as the Necron Doom Scythe’s death ray or the

Deathstrike missile of the Imperial Guard, and psychic

powers that follow the rule for maelstroms, beams, and

novas.

11)tempest wrath Psychic power does not work on flyers (Njal it is then)

Main rulebook FAQ invalidates Njal's powers against flyers.

How and where?

Except aren't those all categorized as "shooting attacks"? Njal's Tempest is not.

I think the meat of Njal is found here.

Therefore, any attacks that use

blast markers, templates, create a line of/area of effect or

otherwise don’t roll to hit cannot target them.

I'd love to be wrong. I don't want to buy flyers (unless it is for my codex force alone) or bastions or aegis defense lines.

I took it to mean that in order to affect a flyer, the ability you used had to first, be a shooting attack in the first place, followed by then being a shooting attack that could be resolved as snap fire.

That would invalidate Njal, as the tempest ability is not a shooting attack.

They just haven't sold enough flyers yet.

Regardless of Njal's weapon being a staff, it should still be str:user ap3, as it's an unusual force weapon. If it has to be a staff, so be it, but that won't affect regular RP's as you model them however, but then the unique weapon rules will override what they're modeled with.

I think the meat of Njal is found here.

**I edited my post when I got home and on my desktop as opposed to my phone.**

However the question addresses this by specifying,

How do Maelstroms, Novas and Beams– or indeed any weapon

that doesn’t need to roll To Hit or hits automatically – interact with Flyers

Zooming and Gliding Flying Monstrous Creatures?

Njal's abilities are not weapons, they are abilities.

Best part is that Bjorn now counts as a character and issue challenges. Good bye power fist serg!

That is very handy bjorn is tempting me more and more at the moment as going first seems to more powerful in 6th

Agreed

"A model with a Nemesis Greatsword re-rolls failed To Hit, To Wound and armour penetration rolls in close combat." - C:GK, Pg.54

"Q: Does a Nemesis Dreadknight armed with a Nemesis greatsword have 4 Attacks at Strength 10 that, because of the Nemesis greatsword, can re-roll To Hit, To Wound and Armour Penetration rolls?(p54)

A: Yes." - C:GK FAQ v1.1

"A Wolf Claw is a lightning claw that allows the wielder to either re-roll his to hit rolls or his to wound rolls" - C:SW, Pg.60

So shouldn't Wolf Claws allow re-rolls of to-hit or to-wound with say a Power Fist, Thunder Hammer, or Frost Weapon by this reasoning?
