MFive
What is a Deathstar(aside from starwars)? from what i have gathered from several posts it used to be an auto win(or near), is it Paladins in Storm Raven gunships(with drago of course)? Vash
DeathStar for Grey Knights is the famed Draigo with Paladins with all the stuffing. Example: Draigo 10 Paladins with, 4 psycannons, Apothecary, some hammers and mix of preferred close combat weapons. Captain Tezdal
In general Deathstar is just one crazy expensive unit that smashes everything, sort of all your eggs in one basket sort of thing... I don't usually see many folks running deathstars in 40k that often, unlike WHFB. Vash
Wouldnt agree on the "all your eggs in one basket" theory though. I think its more important what you do with the points you do have left. Those points MUST be spent well and compliment and support the deathstar unit really well. Res Ipsa Loquitur
Yeah, what Captain Tezdal said; one unit costing a lot of points that is designed to be bigger, meaner and scarier than anything else on the tabletop. Having a Death Star is generally a bad call (even though I run a buttload of Death Company in a Land Raider Redeemer most games) and having a Death Star in a Stormraven, which might not show up until turn 4, is lunacy. nurglez
My usual Deathstar is Draigo and 10 paladins with 4 psycannons. Recently I have also added an inquisitor in terminator armor with psycannon and psychic mastery level 1 (normally going for prescience). 1020 points for a 12 model unit, that can reroll to hit (assuming I get prescience off), 27 wounds. Back in 5th they were hard to deal with, and with the look out sir rules they were still pretty survivable. Now Paladins have been faqed to not be characters, they will be less survivable, but I am yet to play with them or see how viable they still are.
