Paralyz3dxD11
Opinions? I want an almost all shoot army. I know that with them along they cost a lot of points but their abilities add an extra punch to a bunch of weapons. Sternguard/Heavy Bolter Devs come to mind. Squirrel
too expensive to make a roster around both, pick one. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260580-running-vulcan-and-lysander/#findComment-3170589 Share on other sites
D3STROY3R
Well there is a nasty combo to be had but it'll be expensive and a big big target. Vulkan chapter tactics will make combimelta sternguard awesome against elites. Lysander in a Land raider redeemer with 10 sternguard will be the bane of power armors existence rerolling their ap3 ammo and extending their range to 30 inches or 24 inch rapid fire range with the raider. This all combined makes a super super flexible unit but you're paying almost 400pts in hq department +550ish for the squad and transport. 1k points and you don't have troops or heavy support yet. Truth be told, as good as twin linked meltaguns sound vs elites, you probably won't kill a hammernator squad because of their great invulns unless you drop null zone too. Really, 2+ ammo with bolter drill would be more effective imho. So I say yay for Lysander, nay to vulkan. Lysander sternguard is a good enough deathstar as it is. Especially to xenos. Kraken bolts+bolter drill vs necron warriors? DarkGuard
As the others have said it's just too expensive. Pick one or the other, and then build the list around them. Plus, they're both essentially beatsticks, and therefore don't add too much to the force. They add some stuff, but it's all basically army selection, all locked in. Having something like a Librarian gives you options during the game, which is always a good thing, and doesn't cost so much. Pick one, build the list around them, but not both, not unless you're running multiple detachments and have the points for them. Also, welcome.
