Just sold my space wolves army for starting another one

I just sold my space wolves army. I'm starting another one, with more conversions and details.

I'm looking forward tips and suggestions on some ideas i've put together.

I already have an annihilation predator, 3 drop pods and two rhinos / razorbacks with an assault cannon turret and two converted laser plasma ones.

I'm going to add some details in the future.

I also have many spare bits. I think I'll buy at least one chaos warriors and one chaos maradeurs kits.

Now the most important part. Some ideas that i want to discuss.

BLOOD CLAWS

For characterizing them...

- exclusively running / dashing legs

- not-so detailed torsos and bitz

- "punk" hair

- axes, swords and other melee weapons besides chainswords, just for saying they are more barbaric

- face tattoos

GREY HUNTERS

- more static poses

- older heads with beards or mustaches

- more bolters in squads than chainswords & pistols

The packleaders will have some decorations

POWER ARMOURED WOLFGUARDS

- more decorated bitz

- "wolf" backpacks, like metal Ragnar one

- I was thinking about converting them with Chaos warriors kit including cloaks

SCOUTS

- naked arms like chaos maradeurs ones

- some cloaks... i'm short on ideas here

TERMINATORS

- forgeworld kit, i wish... any ideas?

Now some ideas on army.

Do you suggest to do an entire army with chaos warriors cloaks? I was thinking about only one unit of wolfguards with many combiweapons and special melee ones.

I'm toying with the idea of doing a pack for Ragnar, with left shoulderplate with Ragnar's simbol

I was also thinking about a more sneaky unit with plasmas (for using it with a wolf priest with saga of the hunter)

Any ideas for converting some units for some companies? I like a lot Erik Morkai, Bran Redmaw, Sven and Kjarl.

Excuse me for the lenght of the topic, I wish elder wolf will help me :D

For Terminators you could give them Chaos Terminators helmets (with horns)

Wolf Guards - decorated weapons, wolf pelts

GH - normal bolters (not from the new kit) or less decorative ones, more "hero" poses (holding bolter in one hand, and tossing the granade)

BC - nothing more to your idea

Scouts - more tooth necklaces, knives, additional pouches.

I dont like idea of whole chaos warriors cloaks, because they look too static, and looks a bit unwieldy for normal warriors (not characters).

Do you want to have a single company? Or rather a task force made of companies already existing?

Hi Nadir,

thank you for your answer.

I was thinking about a task force of 3-4 great companies, with some special QGs like Logan and Ragnar.

My idea is an army where each model or so has his unique conversions, but where I can distinguish between squads.

So I'm adding chaos warriors cloaks only on characters and some others.

What do you think about a unit of wolfguards coming back from the eye of terror and offering help to the force? Would it be competitive (combiweapons) and fluffy?

I was also thinking about a more sneaky unit with plasmas (for using it with a wolf priest with saga of the hunter)

I plan on doing this soon.

Agreed.

For your Claw units, I'd magnetize their backpacks (on atleast 10 of them, should you have that many) so you can quickly have a pack of Skyclaws in the future if you want.

In fact, the use of magnets in general, imo should be mentioned, supported, and promoted by GW. They'd easily make a profit should they ever package their own brand.

Anyways... Use magnets on all your special weapon GHs so you can swap them out for bolters if you're trying to save points, or interchange them as needed. Also magnetize your TDA.

I converted some scouts with marauder bits recently. Some images are in my album link.

I forget to tell that I already have a 8-men swiftclaws...so i made an error, well

I love your scout, I've already saved your topic in my preferites some times ago.

Very good painting and conversions!

I would suggest giving your scouts backpacks like this guys have Wolf scouts, I think he have caught how grizzled old veterans should look like. Maybe you should look at the Catachan arms instead of the chaos Marauders, you might even get some backpacks on that sprue, I wouldn't know, the Cadian one does if I remember correctly.

The Khorn berzerker legs are good if you want your Blood claws look like they are running, but the chaos symbols are not fun to get rid of and sometimes they make your mini look like they are toppling over.

The Chaos terminator heads are to Chaosy for my taste, keep them unhelmeted with the old looking heads instead, sadly the chaos terminator torsos are also to chaosy.

I really do not like cloaks if they are not sniper scouts, but that is just my preference, I always feel that you might get strangled by your own cloak if you wore one.

Another thing if your bloodclaws have face tattoos, shouldn't all your wolves have them?

Just my two Kraks.

Tattoos are for bloodclaws for distinguish them as a sort of berserker.

Great ideas on khorne berserker and on scouts, thanks :D

His point was that all of them were Blood Claws at some point, so if all of your BCs get/have tattoos, then everyone in your army would still have their tattoos from back when they were young (albeit somewhat faded, perhaps, over the centuries).

As for your Terminators, don't bother with the Forgeworld upgrade kit; it was made to mesh with the older and smaller plastic Terminator kit, so the resin bits don't combine well with the new plastic SW TDA pack.

Valerian

Valerian explained what I meant, so I will not bother with that.

Warpaint is a better option or you could start out with small or few tattoos when they are BC and expand them when they get older, Long fangs with tattoos covering most of their faces and if you have bare armed scouts give them tattoos on their arms too.

But if you go with the warpaint I would suggest going with the Celtic cliché hollywood ones, like in Braveheart, King Arthur (2004), blue lines or swirly ones. A lone wolf would probably have warpaint too just for single him out as that special dude.
