TrentL
So I'm plodding along slowly painting up my 500 points of Grey Wolves for our escalation campaign... taking me a LONG time (about 6 hours a model) May get faster later who knows. I've done most of the bodies minus all the weathering I'm doing on them, and I started looking at the heads I chose (Which are not glued on at the moment) Is there any difference between Grey Wolf Heads, Blood Claw heads and Long Fang heads? I chose some interesting heads but I realize some of the ones I chose and have started painting ... are generally in Blood Claws (Tall mohawk types) and almost every grey hunter I see is 100% helmeted.... I know its "MY" army just looking to see what most of you guys do for grey hunters.... ulllyssies0110
Any head will work. What I did was give all my BC orange hair, GH standard hair color w/ grey beards, and LF with all grey hair. Cate
I am with ulllyssies0110 on this one, any head will work and his colour suggestions are the way to go. I do not like the mohawk ones, but that is just my preference. I keep my squads apart with different colours on the left shoulder, following the GW template. For a while I was thinking of giving all my GH helmets and keeping my claws unhelmeted, but I scrapped that idea as I think that a helmeted Squad looks boring and mono coloured when they have helmets. /C Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260761-grey-wolves/#findComment-3172960 Share on other sites
Wulfebane
Any head will work. This. Through lore, fanfics and Black Library novels, it has been popularly decided that SWs tend to forego their helmets to hear/see/smell better without all the helmet filtrations. This trait tends to be more prominent in Blood Claws because a) they're still coming to terms with their heightened senses, and b.) are not as sensible in keeping their head protected, believing themselves as immortal, akin to the Sky Warriors they grew up hearing stories about. Since Grey Hunters are more tempered, they can make do without needing to remove their helmets. This is just fluff, mind you, and should be taken with a grain of salt. stinkenheim
Older fluff used to say that Blood Claws weren't permitted to grow facial hair, it was only once elevated to Grey Hunter status that they could lettheir beards grow out. Depends if you fancy sticking with that, GW don't seem to have done so because the codex has many pictures of Blood Claws/Sky Claws and Swift Claws with beards/taches etc Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260761-grey-wolves/#findComment-3172993 Share on other sites
