Brom MKIV
As the topic states I am looking for input from people who have used these. I am toying with the idea of double thunderwolf lords, one with wolfkin, riding in packs of 12-15 fenrisian wolves. The upside is initiative 5 beasts with 3 attacks each plus init 10 hammer of wrath attacks on a dirt cheap unit to protect the s10 lords, in essence a cheap delivery method that can hit hard but doesnt cost too dearly if destroyed. The downside is obviously crap armour/ld although these should be mitigated by terrain density and wolf lord stats. Any experience with this strategy or input in general? Bearingtheword
Mine do well and certainly earn their points back, but I'd recommend that you take Saga of the Wolfkin on whomever you can to make your fen wolves that much better. Initiative 5 means they are usually thinning down the ranks before they are getting hit and adding 2 points to their Ld is nothing to scoff at either....and if led by a character they can be great ablative wounds via "Look out sir!" when the character is not involved in a challenge, so.... ~BtW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260771-fen-wolf-packs/#findComment-3173147 Share on other sites
Brom MKIV
Ya I mentioned wolfkin, definitely a worthy saga if taking wolves. I curious about their susceptibility to moral though both in combat and vs shooting. Hannibal.Lictor
Ya, I am presently toying with Canis and 14 wolves. My question is they have a base of 2 atackes, but do they get an extra attack for Claws and Teeth? Bearingtheword
Ya I mentioned wolfkin, definitely a worthy saga if taking wolves. I curious about their susceptibility to moral though both in combat and vs shooting. If joined by an IC that's fearless then that transfers to them iirc, (i.e a Wolf Priest, it just sucks that that the WP can't take a TW mount, although....and this is probably very controversial but i don't think there's anything stopping you from mounting the WP on a bike and having him join the Fen Wolves. It's not very fluffy at the very least) .... and in Canis' case, if you use him, his Lord of the wolfkin give any fen wolves within 12' his leadership value of 8, which is one better than they had to begin with. I'm thinking I read somewhere that his ATSKNF extends to the group he is in as well....but not positive on that one... I'm sure some of the Long Fangs will point out my failings so that I may correct them, if I am wrong here. :P ~BtW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/260771-fen-wolf-packs/#findComment-3173293 Share on other sites
Khine
One thing that you need to mindful of when they get in combat is you need to wipe enough of your enemy out with their I5 attacks. Otherwise, you may find yourself losing too many wolves and the combat.
