Hezrou
So i'm final getting around to painting my iron priest, ulrik and Njal. I'm wondering what company markings they would have? my company is ragnar's and has been for along time. Now i'm thinking are the iron priests a seperate section of the chapter and asigned to a company as needed or the company has its own iron priests. Also what would be the marking on ulrik's and njal's left shoulder pad? I know this is a painting question but its a very wolfie fluff based question so i thought this is best place to ask. thanks for reading and replying. Blackmane
Hi All of the priests -and the dreadnoughts for that matter have the totem of the Great wolf which is the wolf that stalks among the stars Hi All of the priests -and the dreadnoughts for that matter have the totem of the Great wolf which is the wolf that stalks among the stars Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261070-priest-company-markings/#findComment-3176438 Share on other sites
Ullr Direfang
Priesthood is part of the Great Wolf's Great Company. And the Great Wolf assigns them to other Companies as they need them. So I would say use wolf that stalks among the stars if you want a definitive symbol. Maybe a knee pad or something to show which Company he is attached to. Or maybe just a generic Space Wolf symbol. I always planned one leaving my priest without markings to show that they "float". Yea, fluff wise, all the priest are left in the company for the most part, but I figured I would keep their markings low. Loki-LaughingDeath
Or you could do what I try to do... on the left shoulder pad, typically the Great Company assignment is the Wolf that Stalks the Stars and on the right shoulder pad is the Great Company symbol that they have been assigned to. Blackmane
-which is a pretty cool idea except for the fact that the right shoulder is for the tactical badge. In the case of a wolf priest a skull. One way you could go about it if you want to follow the fluff could be an armybadge(which is what I did) or you could,as suggested, paint the totem of his current allegiance on a knee pad Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261070-priest-company-markings/#findComment-3176580 Share on other sites

stinkenheim
I've painted all my priests to have the Wolf that Stalks on their right shoulder (the left as you look at them) and my great company badge on the knee. My dread also has the Wolf that Stalks on his sarcophagus, as will my Ven dread if I ever get close to painting it. Bearingtheword
I've heard/been told a couple different things regarding this; One being what Blackmane has said in his first post, the other being that the priests wear the colors of the company they are assigned to on their left shoulder pads and the pack marking of the priests on the right. When I asked about the pack markings I was told that the priests were assigned different packs within the Vlka Fenryka just like the Blood Claws, Grey Hunters, Long Fangs, Wolf Guard and others, so that their markings and colour patterns varied. Though they often tried to keep the priest packs within the same company as much as possible, some times situations dictate otherwise. As for dreds, I was told they continue to wear the company markings and pack markings of the packs they were part of when they fell. That way they had some sense of comradery and continuity when they are awake. Anyhow, just the thoughts on what I have heard and been told. I personally use the second method myself for "lesser/unknown" priests, those like Ulrik or Njal and a Dred like Bjorn would all use the Great Wolf's company markings.. ~BtW Edit:(spelling and grammar) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261070-priest-company-markings/#findComment-3176613 Share on other sites

For dreds I kind of figured I would keep my company symbol to show a warrior from the company or one that used the symbol in the past who was awoke to fight for my company. I kind of like the idea if having the dreds with different GC symbols though....
