WolfLordKejl
So, these guys are Fast Attack, and most of the Fast attack options are Blood Claw unit types. However, the Thunderwolf units have higher BS and WS, making them different from the other FA units. Ive seen them painting by GW as Wolf Guard, others paint them as Grey Hunters. And granted, its a painting question, so...its not decided as a whole. Thoughts? Schertenleib
So far all of my TWC have the pelt shoulder pad on the unit shoulder. The visible area I just painted black. This is just a personal thing for me. A nod to the Black Riders of history. WolfLordKejl
I actually thought about just giving them all the shoulder pad with the wolf skull in it and painting the background black as well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261245-thunderwolves-pack-markings/#findComment-3178176 Share on other sites
Bran Scalphunter
As far as I can tell from the Codex, the Thunderwolf Cavalry are Wolf Guard so if you want their specific pack marking, I'd go with Wolf Guard markings. Argyle
Paint it how ever you want really. I'll be doing mine with Wolf Guard markings as I think that is the "official" GW ideal. On page 34 of the codex under the description of TWC it clearly states they are members of the upper echelon of Wolf Guard...which is then contradicted by the equipment choices you can take but what ever lol. (shakes my head and needs to fix my intake receptors. lol) WLK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261245-thunderwolves-pack-markings/#findComment-3178192 Share on other sites
MalachiOfRuss
The box art of the TWC models has Wolf Guard colours on them as well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261245-thunderwolves-pack-markings/#findComment-3179466 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
They are wolf guard so I see it as no different than a terminator pack of WG. I do mine with different pack markings as these guys are typically taken out of their pack for the honor of being a WG. Since the boxed set was released, I was also wondering why they have been clad in Wolf Guard iconography and apparently skipped that line of descriptor text completely. Schertenleib
Always thought it odd that they are considered Wolf Guard, but don't have the same stat line. GraemePaul
Always thought it odd that they are considered Wolf Guard, but don't have the same stat line. the way I see it the wolf guard who rides thunder wolves must constantly assert his dominance and as such his leadership qualities are reduced as part of his focus is keeping the mount in line. Thunderwolf Cavalry have a stat line that incorporates both rider and beast. That's why the TWC has superior stats.
