Here's where I'm at with my first Deathwing miniature in a good 5 years: He's not quite done yet, but hope to have him finished soon. Also, look what I managed to pick up from eBay, new and unopened/unused: I shall be using that bad boy on my next squad of Tactical Marines! That is a great find, but you should check out The Army Painter Color Primers. I just recently found them and I can't tell the difference from Angel Green and Dark Angel Green. And from the few times I've used them they apply really nicely as well. The shade of green is great BUT since it's fairly old can, make sure the top is correctly attached to the spray mechanism - if not, green might spray everywhere (including clothes, walls and of course drop on the minis in a less than gentle way...). Just do a test in a safe environment... Wraithwing Posted November 27, 2012 Author Share Posted November 27, 2012 I haven't made a massive amounts of progress on my Dark Angels this month. My desire to paint up a new army DA is still very strong, and with the Codex just around the corner, it's getting stronger. However, RL issues have conspired to keep me from painting as much as I would like. That said, my November vow, the DV Deathwing Terminators, are now complete: It's took me a while to get these done, most of the month in fact. Seeing as the rumours point to three new DA box sets, I'll probably paint up the second DV Tactical Squad, and the DV Ravenwing Bikes. That should tide me over to January, and then see what get's released. I can almost guarantee I'll be picking up the new Belial. For Deathwing, I prime white, basecoat in Zandri Dust, wash the entire miniature in Devlan Mud, rebase with Zandri, leaving the Devlan Mud in the recesses, then build up with Ushtabi Bone, Screaming Skull and White Scar. I did take some step by step pics of the process, so if you want me to post them, let me know. It's kind of a shame that the Deathwing kit makes much better Belial models than the official one. I've got the large Blade of Caliban part from the Ravenwing Command set on order for the sword. It's got a lovely watcher in the dark cross guard at the hilt, which should look suitably epic. Combined with the flail arm from the DW Knight Master, and he should have a slightly more dynamic pose than just using the sergeants sword and arm. Going to do some GS work on the banner, and replace the banner top with a DW symbol also. Then add the cape and shoulder pads and we're good to go. Only thing that vexes me is he's missing a bunch of keys. Should be able to shave the set of the DE sergeants sword though and add it elsewhere about his person. I've made a couple of new vows in the PTR thread, and need to make them in the LPC thread also.
