bebe
So I added a purgation to my list at 2000. I had a choice between 10 purifiers 4 psycannon - 280 or 8 purgation 4 psycannons 240 I have a Libbie with prescience in the squad as well. He can detach to strikes or go off on his own when needed. So far they have been my best AA and AT in my list. I almost went with incinerators - eighty less points - but I have been happy with all the psycannons. Anyone else trying out similar configurations? What are your experiences in 6ed? Vash
I am not sure you have calculated correctly on your 10 Paladins... it should be 630 pts for 10 Paladins with 4 Psycannons. I used the Purgation three times with psycannons. They are good, no doubt. But unless you have a grandmaster who can make them scoring, I find the basic strike squads more worth investing in. For 240 pts you get 10 Strikes, with 2 psycannons and psybolt ammunition on the rest, and are scoring of course. bebe
Of course I meant purifiers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261301-a-look-at-purgation-squads/#findComment-3179016 Share on other sites
stephane4985
I would prefer the purifiers, because you can then combat squad them with 5 guys equip for CC, and then the 4 spycannons together to shot from afar. You are missing the astral aim, but gain CC capability. playedsincedaemonhunters
Purgation squad with 4 incinerators killed an entire ork mob in the last team tournament, if you want some cheap Killing power, and 4 templates that gobbles anything 4+ then purgation arent bad at all Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261301-a-look-at-purgation-squads/#findComment-3179218 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Purgation with the Trogdor build are pretty hella sweet; Justicar w/hammer, 4 x Purgators w/incinerators, Rhino (150 points) Break glass when facing horde armies. Not too expensive either. I've taken it for a spin a few times, they tend to die quickly but some good burnination before then. For psycannon spam, look no further than Purifiers. They fight better in combat, they're Fearless, they have 'Cleansing Flame' ('Astral Aim' is still largely irrelevant, the free 4+ cover it grants negates its usefulness a lot), and they have dirt-cheap nemesis upgrades. Flame Knight w/halberd, Purifier w/hammer, 4 x Puriifers w/halberds, 4 x Purifiers w/psycannons (295 points) Expensive, but not overly so. As others have mentioned, you can always combat squad them, however I like keeping them together as a mid-field annoyance. Dakka dakka, then when you get charged halberdiers go first, then you remove psycannons when you suffer casualties (place psycannons closest, as they're less valuable in combat than the halberdiers/hammer dude). shortysl
5-man Purgation Squad with 4 Psycannons and Coteaz mounted behind an Aegis Defence Line. Enemy Flyers coming on from Reserve? Use Coteaz's special rule to fling 16 S7 shots at them (even at BS1 you're bound to hit a few times). Same for ANY other unit that comes on from Reserve, and you can do it multiple timwes in the same turn. Cheap as chips and provides a serious thorn in the side for any army that likes lots of Reserves/Flyers. stephane4985
Situational at best. If they are smart they will come in reserves more than 12 inch from coteaz. Very true, but if that's the case, you've already begun to dictate the flow of the game. Forcing your opponent to react to your plan is half the game and if you've got said squad deployed in a relatively central position that 12" bubble actually covers a lot of the board. stephane4985
yep, and add warp quake from nearby Strike squad to that and it can become a real deapstriker's nightmare.
