The coils are fantastic! Can't wait to see the AoBR dread joining the ranks! This is a great log - as is the Tale of 4 Armies! I just cut the hammer side off and used a hormagaunt scythe arm for the scythe blade. the rod itself is plastic rod from evergreen plastics. I used plastic because of the give it has (he's been dropped twice) brass would bend and well, we know what that means @ Captain Semper yeah, those coils were an accident! I had painted them white and hit them with asuryan blue wash, then drybrushed them white, Ijust wanted to see how the blue would look. I decided I like them as is, so I went around them with calgar bluemon the casing, and it's a VERY quick and dirty OSL. who knew? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I also really like the effect on the plasma coils and I've found a couple of similar applications with the new paints. Very cool dread banner, nice addition with the scythe/talon. Captain Semper Posted September 25, 2012 Share Posted September 25, 2012 Excellent furioso, the mix of green and white areas work very well to denote the veteran status of the dread! Well done on the feathers and the scythe, they look fantastic. Only comment: the parchement. It looks a bit too white - maybe some washing to give it a bit more "aged paper" look? And its edges could do with a bit clearer definition - it looks as if the white spills over to the green... These are minor things and in no way to they detract from the awesome jobe you've done - but since the banner is kind of a focal point for the mini, I'd say it calls for a bit more touching up... Adeptus-Alaska Posted September 25, 2012 Author Share Posted September 25, 2012 thanks guys! @Captain Semper, nope, just a regular dread, I am just using more bone white in my army than most I guess. yeah the banner parchment, not as happy about it as I wish. will fix that later. @stobz, unfortunately, the jump chappy is for the Black Templars in my "tale of four armies" thread. he is a lesson in minimal pallette. black,steel, and red are the colors with a few details like honours and purity seals in different colors oh and the bone white loin cloth parchment that the BT's LOVE..... he and the Emperors champion are the next in that thread! I am actually working on a conversion based on Asmodai for my Greenwing! so I have a Question for the Rock. on my actual venerable dreadnoughts, what should I do, the bone white of cannon OR the black of the original Legion! or Black and bone? @Cypher 102, Yeah, I messed up drilling out the exhausts. but I like it so much, I might actually do it on all my dreads! I imagine that all the dreadnoughts are members of the Deathwing being heroes of the chapter. I've always seen venerable dreadnoughts as being the most experienced at being dreadnoughts more than being based on any other titles or positions. Captain Semper Posted September 25, 2012 Share Posted September 25, 2012 Regarding Ven Dreads, this is a big question. The idea that everything DW should be all white is novel, and only the 4th Ed. Codex pushed it hard. I'm of the school that says ONLY Termie armor is white. The rest, be that a land raider, dreadnought or other gear should be green. A Ven. Dread can be denoted as such by adding generous amounts of gold or use the actual Ven Dread model (not a fan personaly) or a FW dread... Or add FW add-ons.
