mondamoto
This is a very old project I have decided to blow the dust off and continue working on. So you can get an idea how old this is, this originally started as space marine bikes back before there was such a thing as Scout bikes and real world quad bikes. The conversion itself is based off of a standard SM bike going forward I may switch to scout bikes but since all of my scouts came with these bike I going to stay with them. Version 1 was made by removing the bottom exhaust off the bike attaching a sheet of plastic and a box from an oop rhino and then attaching an oop whirlwind missile launcher arm as the back axle http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii525/mondamoto/c80200a0.jpg http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii525/mondamoto/161b0141.jpg http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii525/mondamoto/d11281a3.jpg Version 2 uses the same material but I removed both exhaust. This one will require me to make new exhaust out of plastic tubing and having them come out the back. http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii525/mondamoto/a0a2c901.jpg http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii525/mondamoto/35fae81c.jpg http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/ii525/mondamoto/63b75ebb.jpg Please have a look I am looking for some feedback on how to continue or improve on it. Such as should I keep them as trikes or switch to quads. These are extremely wip as they are being help together with blutac and lots of finishing work need to be completed. Grotsmasha
I like it!!!!! My only suggestion is to consider lengthening the front forks a little, especially on that second one with the higher riding rear. ZAChos
Trikes is a cool thing, as they're not seen in 40k armies as often as Quads. The one thing that could cause a problem is all of the OOP whirlwinds you'll need to buy just to make these models. I do like the idea of each one being individual though, with slight variations along a theme. If you were keen to do a quad then having each model on a slightly different vehicle would lend itself to that. The quad would belong to the sergeant I guess, as he'd be bigger and heavier than the average scout, having gone through all of his augmentations. elohimalpha
Nice work! My favorite is version 2 - the higher back-end gives it a more aggressive look, and the stripped-down exhaust highlights the scout rules. I like version 1, but the back needs some details - maybe some spare equipment for long-range scouting missions? Keep up the good work! mondamoto
I think the rear height is caused by the bluetac so it will not be there once it is glued into place. I may keep version 2 as the sgts bike and all the troopers get version one it all depends on how hard it is to make new exhaust. Most of the bike will be getting the Scout baggage that comes with the scout bikers I also have some assorted bits that I am going to glue to the backs. Thankfully back when I started this I ordered 9 sets of the arms so that is not going to be too much of an issue I also have 2 oop whirlwind kits if I get desperate Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261322-3-wheel-scout-bikes/#findComment-3179419 Share on other sites
Captain Cirrius
If you have the materials handy, I'd say blue tac us a quad just to see what people think. what could it hurt?
