We know what's going to happen...

Listening to an interview recently with Dan Abnett where he was likening the Horus Heresy to other series where the end-game is defined and known by the readers, who want to know the 'meat' of the tale, and how the end-game was reached. It must be tempting, in Horus Heresy meetings, to consider the idea to really drop something in to the series which makes everyone re-evaluate what they thought they knew.

I'd be interested to hear other's thought's on whether you expect any great twists and new information regarding the heresy to be revealed as the series reaches its' climax?

Is it really the Emperor on the golden throne, perhaps it is the carcass of Horus, bound by the Emperor in eternal penitence? etc, just an idea.

BL are sneaky guys, they are bound to suprise us with something but I dunno about Horus being on the throne and not the Emperor. I'd have to be someone with psykic potential to prevent the Webway gate thing from letting daemons in.

BL have already made me re-think my oaths to the Emperor and that I am now devided between loyalist and traitor, so I think they'd be capable of knocking us off our chairs about something in the future...

faith is eternal brothers

there has already been a few points and modifications to the old storys, personly i like reading about heros of old battleing the villens hearing russ howl and corax whisper seeing the plots unfold and the meat fall from the bone the epic battles of calth and istavan i realy cannt wait for the battle of terra

I don't expect any great twists regarding the major points in the plot for the overarching story of the heresy but I do expect the addition of small details - some of which providing a twist in their own right.

Horus wakes up and it's all a bad dream ;)

Oh god, I hate that story device. I curse Dallas for popularising it. :)

I think one of the big twists has already been alluded to

At the end of Fear to Tread the blood angels end up in ultramar and the "summons" of the Lion by Guilliman. (I think in Savage weapons) This may be a major change up as prior to now the Ultramarines basically "sat out" the Heresy because they could not get to terra. These reveals pose a number of questions. We Know Sanguinius and the blood angels make it why not The Ultras? Was Guilliman Organizing the defense against away from Terra?

There are quite a few twists coming I think. Anything with the Alpha Legion and how their schemes play out, the roles that Grammaticus, Pious, et al. play in the battle for Terra.

As far as New information there is going to be a ton. In the established fluff we have seven years from Calth/Signus to Terra and only a few major events. I can't see the legions at the battle of terra doing nothing but building for seven years (Fists, Blood Angels, Scars), other loyalist will be fighting to clear their way to Terra/clear out traitors from Imperial worlds. Coverage of all these types of conflicts will be new info.

we know it wont be horus on the throne as fluff already shows the Sons of horus took his body with them into the eye as there was a fluff bit about abaddon destroying it to keep others from cloning it if i recall correctly but then that was a long while back and i slept since then but i like you cant wait to see more of the meat be revealed under the flesh.
I don't mind minor changes and plot twists since those keep the overall story interesting, but I really really hope they don't change any of the major events or details. They already have with some major battles like Signus, but I hope they just stick to the epic story set all those years ago.

I'd like to see plenty about after the Heresy. Both the immediate aftermath and the years after when the Imperium is trying to drive out the remnants of the traitor forces (the stubborn gits like the Night Lords who hung round in Imperial space). I'd love to see how exactly that plays out as there's so much scope there as there's comparatively little fluff written about it apart from Guilliman and the Ultras shouldering the burden of the fighting, Guilliman facing down the surviving primarchs and imposing the codex on most of them, the Iron Cage and a few other things.

There's a whole galaxy to scour and a radically new and different Imperium to (re)forge. Plus, it'd be interesting if they delved into the scars the heresy left on the Imperium in the years after it; on both primarchs + marines and the common people of humanity.

Essentially there's the potential for a huge raft of new fluff showing the 30K Imperium take some massive steps towards becoming the 40K Imperium.

My italics. Sir, that's the best metaphor I've seen yet to summarize the Horus Heresy. It's simultaneously the fleshing out of the event, and the dessication of said events into the rictus grin that is the state of the 40K.

I don't have anything to contribute, really. I just felt that metaphor needed more attention.

I too despise this and will curse GW and BL for eternity if they do it. If anyone involved in the HH series is reading that was a joke please do not end the series this way.
