How long after the Heresy did the traitors change colours?

Hi,

I'm currently building an Emperor's Children army and after the recent FW hours Heresy model reveals i'm looking to either start a Pre-Heresy army or looking to add some of the new kits into my army as the legion after the Heresy.

What i'm wondering isif anybody has any idea of howlong after the siege of Terra the Legions, EC in particular changed thier Legionnal colours?

Can I get away with having some of my models in post Heresy colours whilst others are wearing the previous purple (maybe those most loyal and close to Fulgrim?)?

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts.

Mike.

Let's see. The Word Bearers changed their colours during the heresy (The First Heretic, Know No Fear), the Black Legion changed their colours after the Heresy, once Horus was dead, the Thousand Sons colours haven't yet been depicted in another colour scheme except their Crusade colours so it's up in the air as to whether or not their colours change after the Heresy, the World Eaters have their colours change during the Heresy (I think) and the Emperor's Children, I think, changed when they fell but it was a personal thing to start with (The Primarchs) so some of the Legionnaires could conceivably still be in pre-Heresy colours.

As to having models in differing schemes, I'd say it's your army, you do what you like. Just don't get silly about it. :D

That's one thing I've disliked about the EC, they've always had a fairly uniform colour scheme on the table top, but are frequently described as a riot of clashing colours in fluff. Although, I will admit this wouldn't translate too well to painting. I would imagine there would be some EC that have retained their colours, some with splashes of other colours, right through to the Noise Marines with their colour craziness.
Well in Fulgrim you already started to have some marines painting wearing bright colors and crazy patterns during the Drop Site Massacre of Istvaan V. I think ,like Olisredan stated, that it was more of a personal choice for some of the legion to change its colors so in my mind its completely possible that there are marines runnning around in the old color either just because they want to or maybe as a mockery to loyalist. Just my thoughts on the matter though hope it helps.

Collected Visions has a picture (the Red Angel picture if memory serves) of the traitors gathered before/at the Siege of Terra, the Thousand Sons were warping from red to blue in the picture.

Fair point, brother. I'll concede on that (I'd forgotten about that picture).

Some of the paint schemes on the EC in the late 80's early 90's had them in leopard skin paterns and fluro pinks they where crazy. Try searching for pics of the original noise marine models

Really? I'll have to see if I can find some pics. :cuss

Thanks.

These two remind me of their glory days. Perhaps they'll reform and go on tour?
