rangemaster Posted September 24, 2012 Share Posted September 24, 2012 im really excited for the allies rules because i'm dying to try blood angels. I run a space wolf army that is over 3000 points. i began as just collector and painter and focused on playing lotr, hence so many sw points. the army i run now feels really static and/or slow so i wanted the blood angels to even it out for me. what i'm looking for is advice on how to really spend my points with available models at 700 1000 1500 and 2500 pts levels. i've played a few games of 1500 and 2500, but at 1000 i'm doing something wrong, and i'm trying to have very competitive 700 level games agains some friends. i'm kind of scared of using vehicles because i've seen one too many rhinos blow up and have beat some dreadnoughts to put much faith in them. however when i get to the blood angels i want to put forth a couple of ideas i had that may make it worthwhile. this is NOT an army list, just models i have that i try in various combos: krom dragongaze, termi, beastslyr, TH 165 4 wolf guard, term, ac, wc x3, x2 cf, mow 193 2 wolf priests, one jump pack for skyclaws, beastslyr, warriorborn 270 2 rune priests, plasma pistol beastslyr 225 5 term wolfguard (when i throw in logan) hf, x2 Wc, x2 pf, 3 diff combi 148 above mentioned logan (taken for fun games) 275 4 wolf guard pack leaders (3 gh, 1 bc) x3 pw, pf 98 1 ven dread ac, twin hf 165 5 wolf scouts heavy bolter, meltabombs x5 45 2 lone wolves, 1 term w/ th and ss, one ss and plasma pistol in power armor 130 10 grey hunters melta, standard, mow, pw 195 10 gh melta, pf, mow 195 10 gh plasma gun, plasma pistol mow 190 13 blood claws 195 land speeder multimelta and heavy flamer 70 9 skyclaws (lead by wolf priest) melta pf 69 thunderwolf cavalry (1 so far will get 3 more soon) ss wc 100 3 swift claws pw 90 4 long fangs, 1 leader, x2 hb, 1 mm 95 5 long fangs, leader, x2 missile launcher, lascannon, plasma cannon 140 whirlwind hunter killer missile 95 predator twin las, side las 165 land raider twin linked side las, heavy bolter, hunterkiller 260 rhino that i don't use much. total 3,408 i like my long fangs as anyone should but i might convert the plasma and melta into missiles or lascannons. thoughts on this? i like my whirlwind and pred best as i just park them in the back field and attack things as they come into range. the skyclaws proved pretty decent for me (but i want blood angels to do it better) i haven't used swiftclaws much but the thunderwolf has made it very clear to me why people are so fond of it. will be getting more soon. the blood claws are ok if they hide in cover in the front lines as opponent advances and spends too much time trying to shoot them down. for some reason they survived everything with only a loss of 2 claws... (but i don't really want to use them that much unless high points game) grey hunters are awesome with boltguns, bolt pistols and ccw. i played as a friend's vanilla marines and was very sad they weren't as good. :.( the land raider i got cheap on ebay and was planning to put termi wolf guard in. as i have not seen 6th ed rules quite yet and heard that tanks got kinda shafted (or buffed depending on opinion) i'm a bit worried about cost effectiveness. but then again i run lascannons on almost everything... can never be too careful. i love termis just because i'm a sadistic bastard. i've yet to figure out exact strategies for scouts as right now they just draw fire for a turn. the dred is ok but i mainly got it to paint it. it's too slow to get into most fights it feels like. (with blood angels i'm thinking death company plus dreadnought on storm raven= can of whoopass) the wolf priests are ok mainly they are just extra attacks to be used against opponents. krom is a bamf model, but i don't really get him into fights much (is it possible for storm raven to drop him and termis on enemy or is it just angels that can use it?) so i'm stoked for allies because i've wanted to get my hands on a storm raven, better jump packers and a death company+ dread. so can someone give me ideas to run 700, 1000, 1500 and 2500 more effectively without blood angels and also give me ideas for where to fill in gaps with the BAs? i greatly appreciate all help. i'm starting to get the hang of the game a bit but still beginner despite the force i have. ps: i've heard of space wolves and ig, but i don't really want artillery, the vendettas are ugly in my opinion (can't really say about effectiveness in action tho i heard its good) and i don't want 50 guards men running about. i want to hit hard and fast because thats what i lack right now. i want to cripple the other team in first 2 turns because those are games i tend to win. and i don't care about scoring units so i won't mind going all death company with angels... thanks in advance Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261671-wolf-allies-load-out-help/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
