Anyway I want a new army that is more about the modelling side of things I have 3 legions in mind and would like some help I'm looking at World Eaters, Word Bearers, and the Alpha Legion So first of, what kind of list(s) would i be looking at in a 1500 pt game? GodEmperorOfMankind
I'm actually contemplating the same question, but Iron Warriors, Word Bearers or Alpha legion. I guess it comes down to what you like about each of them the most and what style of play you prefer. Reading up on their fluff and fighting styles might help you pick one, that's what I'll be doing over the next few weeks. Maximini Have some good heads, the middle one in particular is almost identical to iron armour helmet, and you can request 10 of the same helmet no problem. At roughly £5 for 10 helms it's good. I've used them, and they had excellent customer service and good quality resin Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261693-the-start-of-my-heresy/#findComment-3185961 Share on other sites
TennisBall
There are companies that produce small ball bearings in metal and plastic, 1mm is a good size. They're relatively inexpensive. Using a 1mm drill bit makes some shallow holes in your plastic marines, a drop of glue and a ball bearing and you can make your own studded armour, ideal for mk5 heresy armour. The helmet with the two bars on it, remove the vent on the top and add studs. The plastic set already comes with the mk5 chest pieces with the cables on it. Plastic sets also have mk6 with the beakie head, legs with no separate knee and studded shoulder pad - which could also be used for the mk5. If you can get a hold of older 2nd ed backpacks, they make good heresy style backpacks. If you can get them on the sprue they tend to come with a nice knife and an older style bolter too. Picture of marine backpack sprue at solegends: http://www.solegends.com/citcat1995-6/cat19956p028-01.htm You can still get these on ebay and elsewhere still on the sprue. If the FW marines are too much, you might like to think about getting some of their weapon sets. They're still pricey but you only need a couple of them to give an effect.
