caprera
After putting down my army lists (yep, more than one) I finally decided what they will look like. Beakie marines are the answer but i paused a uber-forgeworld order when i discovered a discussion about the female Marines SpaceCorsair sculpted months ago. Personally i think the idea is nice and interesting but i was looking for the Beakie helmets. These are really RT style and not like the common MKVI armour and here's why i fell in love with it. http://i49.tinypic.com/29o69oy.jpg I was wondering if you guys could have any suggestions about the builds but most importantly where to go get these models... P.s. True-scale is not the important anymore but honestly it would be so much better, even if "not-really-true-scale-just a bit-bigger" models :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261763-rogue-trader-beakie-marines/ Share on other sites
Kurgan the Lurker
eBay is it if you want true RT Mk. VI armor. However you can build a full suit of Mk. VI with the various plastic kits that are currently available. caprera
GamesWorkshop MKVI is fine, legs are ok as well as many torsos but the helmet is not really THAT beakie helmet... Peredyne
I just finished a squad of Mk 6 models. Here's the breakdown of available parts: 2 sets of legs and torsos, 1 head and 1 shoulderpad in the Tac Squad. One set of legs in the Dev Squad. Two sets of legs, a head, and (IIRC) a shoulderpad in the assault squad. The command squad also has a set of the Kneeling legs like the Dev Squad. I ended up having to purchase extra helmets and shoulderpads from an ebay bitz seller. There are plenty of SM players out there who hate the beakie stuff and would gladly trade it out with you. Now most of the various upgrade kits have Mk6 bitz as well (DA and BT for sure). I think the BA Death Company may have some bits, but not the shoulderpads or the helmets. For the old RTB06 plastics, Ebay is your only hope and those boxes tend to go for a very pretty penny. But if the box is complete, that's 30 marines. Whether you buy the bitz from ebay or by the mk 6 kits from FW, it's going to end up costing you the same amount, more than likely. The Mk6 Corvus armor kits from FW will run about $37.00 apiece and you'll need two of them, plus the Umbra pattern bolters kit for $17.00 apiece and a FW SM special weapons kit also at $17.00 apiece. caprera
Thanks Peredyne but my point is that i'd prefer to evade the FW option even though money is not a problem. This because the common MK6 helmet, including FW models, is a restyling of the one from Rogue Trader. That's why i started looking around for conversions made by independents. If i can, at least, get those helmets from SpaceCorsair, it would be great, since MK6legs and torso are relatively easy to find... Since I'm convinced to do it I decided to keep searching and asking around; i really hope someone else has decided to create marines like these or is able to, so here I am. the Umbra pattern bolters kit for $17.00 apiece and a FW SM special weapons kit also at $17.00 apiece. I didn't know which was their bolter pattern, thanks <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/261763-rogue-trader-beakie-marines/#findComment-3186289 Share on other sites
