white chaos marines

suprisingly my question is not how to paint white, I've worked that part out. my chaos marines are white with a dark gold trim and a few deep red accents. My question is how do i paint the bones and skulls and other bone coloured things? normally htey are pretty easy, bleached bone followed by sepia wash and there you have it. however i've tried that and the bone blends into the white and doesnt stand out as much as i would like. i guess the answer is to go browner.

any suggestions?

If you want them to look like they're actually made of bone then yeah, you'll have to go darker. A lot depends on how you're doing your white - if it's done with a cool tone basecoat/shading, for example, then you'll want warm colours for the bone, and vice versa. A pic of one of your minis would make it MUCH easier to advise.

Or do the skulls in the same deep red you're using for other details. Give it significance in your army/warband. Part of their fluff. In my 1kSons at first I was cutting off all the skulls (as my army is Great Crusade-era rather than the morbidity of 40k) but eventually started painting them up as jade and having it as a marking of that particular Expedition.

Just an idea.
