Replacement pin vice bits

Heya B&C, I'm in a bit of a dilemma, and was wondering if someone could help me out.

Over the last several years, I have watched my pin vice bits disappear/get stolen by the vorpal displacement gnomes, and/or break after extensive use. Well, the latter is the fate of my final bit, which is now rendered useless.

In my naivety I went to the local Home Depot, thinking someone could be of some assistance. I was instead greeted by a boisterous, unfriendly redneck who told me I was a dinosaur for using something like a pin vice (after having to draw him a picture for him to even understand what a pin vice was) over a power tool. He told me that "no company on earth in their right mind" would make a bit under 1/16'' of an inch, and like a dope, I purchased one hoping it would get the job done.

Nope! So B&C, can anyone tell me where I can find replacement bits without having to purchase an all new pin vice? I have dozens of barrels to drill in the future, and limited funds, but any assistance would be most helpful. Thanks a lot guys!

I picked up a nice assortment when I went into Pegasus Hobbies. The thing is that they are labeled and sold by gauge (wire gauge size, not in inches like 1/32") so I wasn't sure what I wanted and got a bunch.

I can take a look at what brand they are and what size I'm using that fits a large paperclip, when I get home tonight.

Cool, that's greatly appreciated man.

model shops will sell them either in packs of multiple or individually. as im in the uk i cant offer any specific places

The only now GW hobby shop around here is an independent retailer and they don't carry them in stock. I've checked the local craft store, and all 3 local hardware stores. Don't want to have to buy a new GW pin vice just for the bits.

Walthers drill bits,

package reads:

#60 .040 diameter 2/pk 947-60 (this is a tight fit for a large paper clip) =1.00mm

#55 .052 diameter 2/pk 947-55 (a large paper clip is loose in the hole)

SO, I would grab something like the #58 which is a .042 diameter bit. =1.05mm

I use the #60 right now with large paperclips, sorry but I don't have any small paperclips to test the smaller bits right now.

These were 2.49 from pegasus. If you have amazon prime for free shipping, THIS is a great deal.

Electronics stores (Radio Shack / Maplin etc) often carry them for PCB work. You'll be wanting lots of different sizes. It's better to have bits you want when you want them than have to make multiple trips. I need a new set of 1mm bits and I'll probably spend £20 on bits of various sizes just cos I'm there. And cos the thin ones break really easily.
Jewellery Supply places like Contenti and Rio Grande are also a great place to buy high quality fine tools and bits. While some cheaper 'Hobby Shop' drill bits I've purchased in the past have been very disappointing (very dull, and bad/crooked 'points' on the tips) anything I get from a Jewellery Supply place is very good. They also carry many other tools that are excellent for miniature building. Most notably; Very high quality files (Swiss made Grobet files, for the win!) and excellent Jeweller Saws and bulk Saw Blades to go with them.

If you prefer to go back to Home Depot, you can get this:

The second bit is perfectly sized for large paperclip diameter. If you prefer to buyjust a setof those bits, they're 3/64" and are sold in packs of 4. (also at Home Depot)
