Mk iii torso + space wolves cloak back

So, I'm thinking of getting myself some forgeworld Mk iii models to go alongside some Cataphractii in a mixed wolf guard squad. My question is this: Are the mark iii torsos the exact same size as the plastic kits? Also, has anybody tried this conversion? I think I'd need to cut off the back half of the torso, as it looks like it's a solid piece, unlike the plastic torsos. The join between the two plastic halves is actually slightly curved, so I'd need to make the cut curved to match. So it might be a pain. I'd like to do it in such a way that I could keep the back half too, but if this isn't a possibility, it's not a big deal.

Any tips?

your best bet is to cut the back piece straight & then saw the torso in half as cutting through a solid lump of resin with a knife will be awkward to keep precise.

you may find that the mk2 front looks odd with a mk7 back as its banded rather than plate, might be easier to carve out the back piece instead

ah, right, the back of the Mk iii torso is banded too? I knew that the back of the legs were banded, didn't know about the torso. Hmm, yeah, maybe carving the back bit out might be the best way to go about it. If I run short of torso backs I can always just pick up a bunch from ebay super cheap, anyway.

You said mark 2, I was thinking more mark 3 (damn roman numerals!) Is it the same for Mark 3? I know that mark 3 isn't as aggressively banded as mark 2.

These cloaks from Anvil Industries might be helpful to you, since they look as if they're designed specifically to fit onto any normal back around the little rectangular box for the backpack mounts.

Umm, dude. Have my babies! Perfect.
