Cheers mate, I am loving the Forge World stuff at the minute. Even though it's way expensive. I think I've finished this guy now, I went with black in the end because he has a red cloak and a red tabardy thing and I felt that a red chainsword might overwhelm the model. I also began work on a test model for the Sons of Horus. I'm not sure I'm happy with it and I may go ahead and switch to Death Guard as I'm more confident with their colours.

Well I finished this guy tonight. A Sons of Horus Legion Centurion. This one I'm happier with the colour. The last one was to bright for my tastes but this one has a darker tone to him. My order of Forge World goodies have come today so I know have a 5 man mk4 squad and a 5 man mk3 set. Glad I have a day off tomorrow.

golly - beautiful colour!!! I love the Son of Horus champ - almost making me want to start an army!! well done :P

 

 

p.s- you're sig says "foul worship if Slaanesh", instead of "of Slaanesh" - perfection in all things brethren ;)

Thanks guys I tried quite a few different recipes but this on works for me. A 50/50 mix of Astronomican Grey and Caliban Green washed with Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade. The MK 4 guys I got are the old type I believe as they have the old MK4 back packs. I haven't looked too closely at the mk3 guys yet.

 

Emperors Immortals @ I never noticed that til now. That's the perils of typing on a smart phone I suppose haha :P

as far as I know, the new kits won't be replacing he old, instead it's just a new addition.

 

Love the emperors children you've done, that purple is lovely. The second son of horus is also much better than the first though for his pose, I'd change the angle of the chain axe personally.

That centurion and that terminator sergeant.. both are absolutely brilliant, and that is one of the best Cataphracti I have seen, and has actually made me think of getting some, either for my Heresy era Salamaders or as a retinue/bodyguard unit for Ahriman in 40k...

Where is the centurion's helmet from?

Thanks very much mate. The Centurions heet is the company champions helmet from the command squad kit (GW). I actually just added a crest to it today and have just finished my Sons of Horus sarge. I will endeavour to post pics tonight.

Here we go then, I have a completed Sarge, a WIP Termi and a whole load of miniatures to paint. I'm really pleased with the sarge, I just love the mk4 kit. Not sure whether to do another legion badge on his right shoulder pad or put some sort of gang marking on there. What do you guys think?

Cheers mateys, I got the 2nd Cataphractii done in the wee early hours of this morning after being woken up by my cat.

 

Nighthunter @ Thanks mate, I use a large flat drybrush brush and wipe the excess off. It's not drybrushing because theres still a fair amount of paint on the brush but I keep pushing it aroung on the model so I get an even coat. The green is pot luck at the moment. I just try to match it to the initial colour I got. haha

Cheers DPD, I kinda stole the green method off you but I didn't have the VMC colours so I had to improvise. haha.

So I got 2 SoH ready for gaming now. I had a quick muck around with the rules last night. And Cataphractii aromur is a beast. Alright they may not be able to run but that 4++ is very handy.

Hiya, got some updates of me army/armies. I based coated the remaining 3 Sons of Horus and I've undercoated my Emperors Children marines. I also managed to finish up another Cataphractii Terminator.

Very lovely purple you've achieved here; very rich colour which you've beautifully complemented with that nice gold trim. Really magnificent models here mate.

 

For my mind the "green" for the SoH is a little to bright, perhaps a bit too much green? I find that my preference for SoH would be for them to be a little darker, like sheeps for the Tale of Twenty Gamers thread. That said, I really cannot fault your application and although not my favourite colour, it does still look quite good, and a whole army painted to that standard would be awesome. ;)

 

Great thread here mate, there's always something good waiting for me when you update ;)

Cheers mate, Sheeps SoH are awesome, if I could get mine looking like that I'd be a happy man :unsure: . I appreciate the feedback, it's a shame GW dont just make a Sons of Horus Green or something. It would make life a lot easier.

 

I've done some work on my little force tonight. Got a 3rd SoH done and got the basecoats down on the EC Tactical Squad.

Hello there, I got my Sarget for the Emperors Children done. Quite happy with him in general though not so much the free hand. The sculpted pads are the way forward I think (When they're released that is). I also found a big base and thought about building a mini diaorama for the two Squad leaders.
