Ullr Direfang
I know bikes are more durable then the Skyclaws but I want to fit a unit in for me. I was trying to think of a fun and interesting leader for them. I was thinking of a WG or WGBL with MotW, 2x PP, and a JP. The only reason I thought a WGBL might be a good choice is for RA. Has anyone tried this out? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262160-papa-skyclaw/ Share on other sites
Brushlicker
uh, i dont find such combination very usefull: -too expencive -gets hot*2 for such expencive guy-sounds pretty freakin scary ! I'd rather prefer wolf priest than WGBL. Re-rolls means much for WS3 Skyclaws. Actually i find 'em even better than swiftclaws but nevermind :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262160-papa-skyclaw/#findComment-3193009 Share on other sites
skeletoro
I don't think WG can be attached to Skyclaw packs. WGBL can, but they aren't exactly a "sweet spot" in terms of points cost. I think you'd be better off loading up a WL or WP for close combat - go belt of russ + PF + WC or else stormshield + whatever (probably WC or PF). IMO. Rift Blade
Wolf Priest probably the best choice for Sky Claws. He comes with a power weapon, has an invul save & most economical point wise. He grants the Sky Claws an preferred enemy, makes them Fearless & you can still give him RA. WGBL only if points are a concern but you won't get the as much out of him for the points. Ullr Direfang
I tend to use my WPs else were. I know they are perhaps the best choice for anything that is basically a bloodclaw. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with something like the guys I listed as I want something a little different, kind of fluff, yet still effective. This is one of the main head scratchers I've had since 2009.... Why can't we attach WGPL to Sky Claws. DanPesci
In 5th Ed i used to take a pack of them with MotW, meltagun and a powerfist, led by a wolf priest with JP. i didnt take them all the time, as theyre quite costly, but they were good fun. The wolf priest not only gives them preferred enemy which can really help negate the WS3 (only against one type of unit, but lets face it, thats alwyas gonna be infantry), but also stops them having to charge the closest enemy. Last apocalypse 5th Ed game we played, i had these come on from reserve, and then contest an objective against 4 ork mobs over 3 turns, until the end of the game (only the wolf priest was left alive, after heroially making 3 invunerable saves for his last wound ;)) I havent really delved into 6th ed yet, but pretty sure points for points, grey hunter squads are still gonna give you a more flexible option, but for fun, a skyclaw pack with wolf priest puts out a hell of a lot of attacks on the charge :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262160-papa-skyclaw/#findComment-3194614 Share on other sites
