Leman Russ counts as

Brom MKIV

Recommended Posts

Like the title says I am thinking of taking a couple vindicators but proxying them with leman russ demolisher models. Seems fluffy and also the only way I can get 2 LRs without all those squishy humans I don't want. What do you guys think any problems with this? I could always model the HB as battle damaged or something.

I am weighing up the possibilities of embarking on a similar project at the moment; making Rhino-chassis counts-as IG vehicles (ie Hellhound/Devil Dog, Basilisk etc), one problem I am having is working around the size of the vehicles, specifically keeping it "fair" for my opponents--I don't want to have my vehicles be too big, thereby obscuring and granting a cover save to any of my units standing behind it that would not be obscured by an official, non-counts-as Chimera; nor too small, making them easier to hide behind terrain etc. Obviously making it EXACTLY the same size is nigh-impossible, but I'd like it to be in the ball-park, ya know?

Anyway the point I'm making is this--I'm pretty sure a Leman Russ is quite a bit larger than a Vindicator, especially when taking into account the turret sitting on top. Just something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the responses guys, ill definitely keep the model size in mind. I guess theres a trade off between line of sight vs cover saves.

My other option is to use IG allies to get a squadron of 2 actual LRs which is appealing for the LRs themselves but less so because I dont like IG troops in general, more of a model and stat hangup than anything. The cool part about this is that I could take creed (cmd squad modelled as scout snipers, gives outflanking to LRs), harker (infiltrating vets modelled as bare chested scouts) and rambo (infiltrating lone wolf anyone?) for some pretty fluffy counts as units. Thoughts on this option?
