Seahawk
I have discovered the ridiculously easy way to paint Imperial Fists: Prime white, one coat of Casandora Yellow wash, and done. :P So I felt like painting up one of my extra captains this way for funsies. It's quite a shock to put him next to my recently painted Typhus (down the threads page a bit) and realize just how BRIGHT the Imperial Fists scheme is. That's okay, I like it. I like this method as it's very similar to the 'eavy Metal paint job of the '90's. Anyway, gaming-standard IF dude! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/veritas117/comparisonshots2.jpg This is probably the way I'll be painting most of my yellows on marines from now on. Olis
Wow, that's a ridiculously good yellow for that simple recipe. Not a fan of the green base, but then, I'm just nitpicking. Nice job. :P
Seahawk
It matches my Ultramarines bases, and I otherwise don't care for bases, so blaaaaaa :P
Lachdannan
A very simple an effective technique. Though he does look a little lonely there all by himself... :D
Tyrannicide
For yellow, not half-bad at all. Nicely done.
Blindhamster
hah, love how such a simple recipe can have such good results! nice miniature, though it looks like the bottom of the face could do with some touching up? might just be the pic though
Seahawk
His chin really is that jowly. I got it second-hand, and he used a bit too much...whatever on attaching the head, so I stuck with it and gave him a funny face. Still, I did a meh job on the face. Mainly it was to show off the yellow :P
chapter master Benji
Very similar to how I do my world eaters. prime black, spray coat of angels red, and wash of baal red. done. Wonderful natural shaded look and you can move right 2 doing the details that bring the piece altogether. Well done.
Dosjetka
Looking good, Seahawk :D Though he does look a little lonely there all by himself... He does, doesn't he? Ludovic
Kierdale
Simply beautiful and beautifully simple. Kudos! Method noted. Not so interested in doing IFs but rather some Scythes of the Emperor.
Validar
I'd paint the trims something (black seems fitting), but yeah, great job
Wraithwing
I did not need to see this. Now I want to do an IF army. Its an army I've always wanted to do, but shied away from due to painting yellow. No longer! I happen to know that my brother has two lots of unassembled and unpainted AOBR marines under his bed... Time to visit my parents house and pillage them! Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers, WW
tiny sam
It's quite a shock to put him next to my recently painted Typhus (down the threads page a bit) and realize just how BRIGHT the Imperial Fists scheme is. well it is somewhat intended, they are the Imperial Fist they don't run or hide. They raise their banner in the light and die as hero :)
Verythrax Draconis
Threadomancy? I loved it, it nice, as I hate painting yellow as well. Is there a way to make the yellow look a bit more paler? Or maybe it's just the camera that gives that orange/redish tint to it?
Seahawk
It's mostly the camera; it's fairly pale, only the shaded areas show any kind of orange. That's alright though, because that's what good shading on yellow looks like.
Firepower
That face...he looks like Statler. Or maybe Waldorf. I can't remember which is which. Very pretty all the same ;)
dizzy-xc
Wow, I needed this thread. Awesome painting tip. Gonna start trying it. I have a HUGE backlog of IF marines that are pissed off that they've been waiting for paint for over 20 years, lol.
