Legion Centurion Specialisations

I got my copy of the Betrayal today but am having a few issues with the Legion Centurion's specialisations. Some of the options state the war gear they cannot take like the Master of Signals but other like the Forge Lord just get additional wargear. Does this mean you can use any of the wargear listed for the Centurion on top of the additional equipment?

I ask as the thought of having a Forge Lord in Terminator armour and a conversion Beamer is sounding very tasty. Thanks for any help

I read it as stated. If it says you can't take something you can't.

f it doesn;t mention it then there is no limitation.

My follow up question is on the Moritat upgrade.

He gains an additional bolt pistol. Can I exchange this weapon?

Going from 2 bolt pistols and a chain sword to 2 plasma pistols and a power sword

add in articifer armour and a refractor field and he is good to go at a mere 140pt

Shame he can't master craft his plasma pistols.

Shame he can't master craft his plasma pistols.

It would be pointless, as the 'Gunslinger' rule means they re-roll anyway.

I don't think it does. Doesn't gunslinger mean he can fire both of them, not make them twin-linked

Correct- that's Seraphim I'm thinking of. Touché.

i know this isn't a perfect answer, as GW and FW have a history of not seeing eye-to-eye on rules anyway, but in the BA codex, when you upgrade a furiouso to a librarian, you lose the ability to take any other upgrades, this also applies to characters who take terminator armor in most codexes. i don't have betrayal, but i would guess that you can only take what is says you can. i wouldn't assume it's permissive.

Since some of the 'Consul' entries limit you (e.g. a Vigilator cannot wear Terminator Armour) I'd say they can take any of the Centurion options not specifically banned for that type.

Regarding swapping the second pistol, I'm not sure. The entry says either 'XXX' or 'XXX'. That suggests only one thing can be swapped. Although I'm not used to the wordings.

Been running the numbers on the moritats hits with his chainfire

I ran 51079 simulations, with upto 40 successive shots per gun. 0.07% of attempts had atleast 1 gun score 40 shots.

It averages at 10 hits.

With plasma pistols that is most of a terminator squad dead.

Ran it with dice scored below 10, about 8 average. Still really shooty.

With a pair of plasma pistols he also has a 1 in 36 chance of killing himself whilst wearing artificer armour! :P

The Consul upgrades are just that, upgrades. Page 191 clearly says what limits apply and 'may not choose other wargear/upgrades' is not one of them. So yes, they can access the normal consul wargear options.

As the techmarine doesn't have an option for terminator armour there's no restriction placed on the conversion beamer and I believe you could take one for a Forge Lord wearing terminator armour. I would question why he has TDA however as he had artificer armour already and refractor fields are cheap.

mysteriousmaskedmystery, the options for models that may take terminator armour are clearly split into "options" and "options (terminator only)" with the second list typically being a cut-down version of the former. The Forge Lord is only an oddity because he gains access to an additional options list from the techmarine who doesn't normally have a terminator variant.

I think it's quite clear that the plasma pistol upgrade is only available once. There no rules given for swapping the Moritat's additional bolt pistol.
