Rainy days and Dark Angels in progress...

Hello everyone!

While most would say it would be unwise to buy anything significant for my Dark Angels till new codex hits the shelf, I bought two Veterans boxes in -20% sale since they had DA upgrade sprues I wanted. I mean GW will take them soon off shop and re-list their upgrade sprue with increase price most likely. the past 1,5 weeks has been almost constant rain in here. Which means as me, who lives in flat haven't got much space to use my spray paints for basecoating and priming so I do it outside. Since, it has rained for past 1,5 weeks, I havern't had change to do much except assemble my Dark Angels veterans. Today I finished assembling and magnetizing 5 bodies, making now my complete magnetzied Veteran bodies 10.

Let me just say: Magnetizing bodies is easy but when you start magnetzing all weapons options at some point you get nightmares about magnets. This also has made my Belial in Progress temporarily halt. That sucks. Anyway as this thread would be worthless without pictures. Here's somerthing I've made in past 1,5 weeks.

Oh, yes, while doing 5th tactical Dark Angels, I am slowly getting hang of the color scheme I want to go. I still suck at painting but I am improving slowly. Yeah, none of the models are yet ready as I have slight ADHD, I usually paint model here and other there, usually make armour and testing how to paint model then moving on. Its not as systematic and organized as I want but... it gets the job done... eventually.

My very first ever painted Deathwing terminator in progress. yes I know I got eyes wrong colored. I've fixed it in when I painted some metal termies.

My 3rd edition Metal termies under Deathwing paint scheme. 3rd edition metal termies are harder to paint than newer plastic ones. That 10% size difference and more hunched poses makes them noticably harder to paint.

Colour test model for my Ravenwings. Looks pretty ok at this point. I just need to work on high lights clean bit and bring colors on tyres and weapons... highlight metals.. Oh, man.. I got 5 more bikes to do... ^^

My 5th tDA actical marine ever painted. I am getting quite close the color scheme I want. first one became accidently a Salamander and not a Dark Angel.

Half of my 10 magneted Veterans with some of their magneted accessories. I should get rest 5 veterans' accessories magneted by tomorrow.

Luckily I haven't had made vow's since weather keeps me lacking of my schedule badly.

I haven't made significan't progress but Belial finally has some color. Armour is almost done mising some minor cleanup in left leg and sharp edges highlights. Rest colors are just base colors, exceot cape that needs more layers to make better color transition. But atleast I am doing some progress

Menchalior, your work is looking very nice! Welcome to the DA insanity!

I really like your Belial, very cool with the cape and I agree with Isiah, interesting color choice and it works! I also really like the test Ravenwing, and I know how hard it can be to settle on a specific paint scheme (I'm still trying to solidify some of mine).

Look forward to seeing more!

Ok I caught flu and fever, while fever is down I did manage to slight progress while sitting bored at home.

Belial and forward left terminator start to be soon ready for game table. Sargeant need bit shadings and rest three just have base for armor painted. next is doing highlights to three remaining termies with screaming skull (extreme ones with skull white) paint weapons and bit shade the armors and doing details. by end of weekend I should have Belial and these 5 deathwings into gaming table condition.

So here it is: Beginning of my DA army only painted models (not yet finished but enough for tabletop), as it currently stands (Still unpainted 5 ravenwing bikes 1 rw bike unfinished) 5 mixed closecombat 3rd edition metal terminator squad, 5 shooty nators, 1 venerable ana a landraider wiating assembling, priming or painting):

What size magnets do you use for magnetizing something as small as terminator arms?

I personally use this. So 1/8" diameter. Though to be honest those are fairly thin. I'll probably be sticking with them, but if I were to redo it I would probably suggest these. A little bit thicker, so need to drill a bigger hole, but since they are thicker they will be easier to work with.

Hope this helps B)

I am using 3x1mm magnets for termies and my marines I gots lots of them cheap. Thanks all guys I assembled my Deathwing Venerable and Landraider today ready for priming and got lost making my Blood ANgels Plasma Honor Guard. Green is just temporary base color. I have modelling sand and static grass with assorted pebbel to glue on bases when I am done with them. I just try to get around 1000P DA army ready for gaming by end of month.
