Hey everyone so I thought I should start showing off some of my space wolves.

You may of seen my army list on the forum and so it's a foot slogging bran's company but I do have some armor as well it's just not in my list.

This is my return to painting after. Long hiatus so be gentle and purist I Realise I messed up company shoulder pads. Some of the models were put together before I did my reading a year or so ago.

These were done with my iPhone so I will get a proper picture done tomorrow with the other 5-6 finished guys

Edit: teaches me for not spelling checking apples spell check.!

I'mma choose this thread. =P

Looks good but your yellow needs work. It looks cakey and mottled. My guess is you had trouble getting the yellow vibrant with that dark undercoat. Next time, paint over the shoulderpad with a white or even yellow BASE paint from GW's line. It acts like a primer and only needs one (at most two) coats to cover the undercoat. Then apply your desired yellow and it'll come out much more smooth.

I'mma choose this thread. =P

Yes yes please let the other red as die slowly haha.

Yeah I'm a painter from way back so Im mostly using paints from late 90s.! So my sunburst yellow Isnt the most free flowing paint.

At the moment I did iyaden dark sun, nuln oil and then 50/50 sunburst- scorch brown, then sunburst. I will head into gw tomorrow and see if a replacement paint will fix them up a bit.

Technically they should have off white shoulders but I started painting before I got my IA book and decided the spot color was good with a dark grey scheme.

Off to a good start Nightmare. I look forward to following it. Some great suggestions by wulfebane as usual, but I can't say I'm a fan of the yellow pads...to me when I see that yellow on the left it screams Blackmanes Company, but hey they are your army! ;) Keep posting pics ;)

and the terror that caused said mess...

I feel your pain as far as the Chaos Daemons known as Cats... I spent 3 days working on 8 2x2 foam panels for my game board, had them all painted and clear coated and left them on the dining room table to dry, and came back to find a couple of them all clawed up.... Almost performed an Exterminatus and gave the Gift of the Emperor's Peace to the turd burglar of a feline on the spot....

Squad is starting to come together very nicely! Just waiting on some paint to arrive via mail so I can get to finishing up my Bran Redmaws Company. So for now I am working on my Word Bearers to keep me busy. Nice Vindi as well!

got the last 3 of this squad on the table drying some inking and then im moving onto attempting the squad markings. Not sure what would be the easiest to try to get straight lines.

@jam the second picture on my 2nd of photos is the closest to how they look. some of the photos the edges does look quite harsh i realise. but anyway this my first time edge highlighting and painting power armor. im normally a fantasy painter/gamer

My guess is your highlights look fine from 3 or so feet away (or across the game board) so I wouldn't stress about them much. If they start to bother you hit the models with a coat of your fav "Black" wash and it should tone them down some.

But one thing you definitely need to do is go back and drill out the gun barrels ;)

Keep the pics flowin brother!

Haha, my intention was to not mention Gun barrels at all and see how many posts it would take to come up.

I will do them all at once. At the moment Im really focusing on finishing 1500 by November 18th for a tourney.

I should have bran's alter ego assembled tonight. Stay tuned

I like the Bran Redmaw (power armor) conversion. Where did you get that ax and the head?

Axe, head and torso are from the Thunderwolf Cavalry box.

Great representation of ol' Bran.

Yup! Very nicely done! Used that same axe for mine as well! And that Skinwolf model looks great. Can't wait to see them painted!

So after much thinking i decided to give it another crack at my paint scheme. i thought i could top the work i had done. so i would like a little bit of input on which you think looks better.

thank you for your help guys

just a quick question as well i think i might be doing something a little redundant. im painting the armour on this scheme. The fang- nuln oil- the fang- Russ grey- fenerisian grey edging.

so the question is should i cut the first coat of The fang? is it usueless and a waste of time. thanks for your help guys.

EDIT- was also my first time at trying a pack marking. how did i do??

Newer scheme shows a lot of improvement. I would stick to that one, and would go so far as to strip and redo your older models once you've got that tournament out of the way.

I'm not sure what color you're priming your models prior to painting, but if it's black I would not cut out the first fang coat. A grey primer, you might be able to get away with it.

Plan is to put some of the same torso pieces etc on redmaws base . I just need another box of hunters and thunder wolves. Since his photo I have taken off the chaos arrows which I never noticed on redmaw. And tossing up taking the skull of its belt.

I could maybe try replicate bran's belt.

@ Iacton- yeah left that part out. Yes I'm using black spray to prime everything.

Maybe you could give Bran and the Red Maw beast some features that are the same on each model. Fora example the same belt, or runic charm. Anything that show that this is the same guy. What do you think?

The beard braid will sell it most.

Very much liking the new scheme. I know it's a pain to go back and repaint, but it will be worth it.

As far as something to tie in the Bran and Redmaw models, I'm of the opinion that it's not that big of a deal, as he is transforming from an 8 foot tall trans-human to a 12 foot tall were-wolf, so not much is gonna be left as far as armor and stuff goes. The cool thing with the skin-wolves is that the "skin" parts can be painted to be the remnants of the "black carapace". If you really are concerned about tying them in I think that Wulfebane's idea of adding in a braid under the Skinwolf's chin would be an awesome way to go.

I personally went with the "Hordes" Warpwolf. I have the resin version, (and I love it), but I am debating on going back and getting the older metal version. It just has a fiercer look, but the Skin wolves are definitely pretty awesome models for the conversions. Cannot wait to see them both painted up!

Not much going on really.

Almost finished 2 more guys. Just a few spot details. Brings me up to 10 hunters painted and a wolf guard.

I plan to knock out everything else before I go back and repaint. I only have 8 weeks till the tourney...
