Kurgan the Lurker
No chaos repentiees can join this? There is a group of former LBC Marines who have gone to Chaos so yes you can post those here. That said we've talking about changing some of the fluff in that regards to make it mesh better -- might even go so far as making a seperate Chapter for the followers of the Dark Gods. More on that later though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262696-legio-bc-minis/page/2/#findComment-1434982 Share on other sites

Brother Tyler
At right is the mini I submitted to the original Legio Mini Me contest back in 2002. The highlights/blending were poorly done, although I liked the effect that the red highlight had on the black armour. I just have to blend it better next time around. The mini is in the "Rogue Trader" era scheme (i.e., the original scheme we came up with, with bone colored chest and left pauldron field, and with the black and white checkerboard pattern right greave, though you can't see it that well). The white stripe on the helmet, effectively making him a Veteran Sergeant, was nothing more than an attempt to bring a bit more color to the mini, breaking up what I thought was a too plain all red helmet. I didn't really like "promoting" myself at the time, and still don't (so my persona remains a Veteran Sergeant, sort of).Fluff-wise, the character was originally recruited from my DIY Iron Hounds Chapter (before that Chapter disappeared in the Tyrannic Wars). I later changed him to be from the Marines Exemplar when I changed the rest of my Iron Hounds army to Marines Exemplar (and also decided that I was no longer keen on making a DIY when there are so many under-developed Chapters out there). With about thirty years in his original Chapter, on the eve of his consecration as a disciple within his Chapter's warrior cult (effectively making him a Chaplain-in-training), a delegation from the Legio returned the body of a deceased Brother-Captain that came from Tyler's Chapter. It was decided that the coincidence was auspicious and Tyler was seconded to the Legio instead of entering the Reclusium. He was aboard the Divine Hunter in the events following the Defense of Cadia during Abaddon's thirteenth black crusade when he lost his left arm (or was it his leg?).Fluff-wise, I may have decided to have him become a Chaplain-in-training within the Legio, though I haven't pursued any storylines. I'm still not keen on "promoting" myself, so I'm content to remain a Brother-Sergeant (still more rank than I'm worth, but I goofed and painted that silly white stripe on the helmet).A note on the mini - my cats (ahem...my "late" cats - neither is among the living now) destroyed the original mini when I had the bad judgment to leave him out for an extended period. I found everything but the backpack/banner, though it's in pieces. I'm pretty sure that I'll be re-visiting my "mini-me" one day, coming up with what I hope is a decent conversion for me and whatever rank I end up being (maybe I'll die and my skull will be converted into a servo-skull familiar for a new mini-me Librarian  ).Anyways, I'm kind of surprised that I never posted the picture/fluff here before. I guess I'm just lazy. Majkhel 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262696-legio-bc-minis/page/2/#findComment-1457098 Share on other sites

Rindaris
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Rindaris was awarded the badge 'Legio Mini Me' Ok, I really love this idea so I'm gonna have the mini done by this weekend... should have all the bits on hand for what I have in mind. Any Veteran (prefered) or Tactical spot would be fine. Randall is armed primarily with a sniper rifle (would be using deathwatch bolter and ammo rules, so any Veteran or Tactical spot is legal for this). Name: Randall Garoth Former Chapter: Aesir Knights Origins: Randall was the younger of two brothers from a well-known family. The two brothers constantly sought to surpass the other and prove themselves worthy of the Knights Calling. But being several years younger Randall was never quite as strong or experienced as his brother Dracmore and would rarely find himself not at a disadvantage, but that never discouraged him. When the Knights would recruit Dracmore but leave Randall behind he felt struck low and for a time thought he would not be found worthy of the Knights. When he finally fought off the sense of failure he once again pushed himself to be the best he could be. But realizing that there would always be someone stronger then him he decided to take a different route then his brother. Instead of relying upon strength he would develop his eye and aim. It would not be long before he was hunting to provide for his family. When the challenges in the villages were called Randall eagerly entered all the contests he could, as all hopeful boys would. With his mind set on his path he never lost a contest that called upon his aim. The Knights take note of such promising youths and it wasn't long before he to was offered to join the Knights. His training in the Knights was not unlike most others who have answered the Call. Randall was always seeking to be the best marksman he could be and prove that few could equal his eye. When he was granted his bolter he quickly sought out the knowledge of the techmarines within the chapter, namely Malakite Dejorand. While in training he had learned much about the workings of this holy weapon but he wanted this weapon to be truly part of him, making it truly his own. Malakite saw much promise in this young Knight and did indeed help him to customize his bolter to better suit his skills. Randall would continue to improve himself. When called upon to test his skills in battle his aim was always sure and his captains quickly came to rely upon him to strike down vital targets. While all the Masters of the Knights are regal, yet isolated, individuals one stands out more so then most: Severus Gilynd. Perhaps with exception of the other Masters few in the chapter know of the comings and goings of Severus, only that he is a ranking officer among the Deathwatch. So when Severus came upon Randall he didn't know what to expect. Severus explained that those he serves seek the very best all chapters have to offer, that no potential is left untapped. He was being offered what few in any Chapter was being offered. He couldn't help but grin as he accepted. Randall would learn the Severus knew about more then merely the Deathwatch and the route he would be sent upon would open his eyes to many horrors and trails that even hardened veterans of the eldest chapters would quake upon facing. He remains a Knight in heart, but serving the Legio he still strives to prove his eye the equal of none. Messanger of Death
Two quick questions. Is it possible to have more then one member of the Legio from the same chapter? The background information suggests that it is possible while the bit about using Legio BnC Army suggest it isn't possible. Secondly is it possible to have Librarians as mini-personas? Specifically a Black Templar one. Messanger Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262696-legio-bc-minis/page/2/#findComment-2146621 Share on other sites

Messanger of Death
Secondly is it possible to have Librarians as mini-personas? Specifically a Black Templar one. Umm.. not that I'm an expect on Black Templars, but arn't they generally anti-librarian? Black Templars hate all psykers with the exception of the Emperor and his Grey Knights. The Legio BnC article says that the Black Templars give up psykers to the Legio. Hence my question of if it is okay to have a mini-persona that is a Black Templar Librarian (obviously not Chief-Librarian since that is locked) Messanger Edit - A handful of Librarians within the Legio are drawn from Chapters willing to give up its psykers ‚" the Black Templars being a notable example. For the most part, however, the Legio's Librarians have no parent Chapter ‚" being created solely for the Legio. The last sentence suggests that psykers, such as those from Black Templar chapter, aren't associated with parent chapter. Does this mean if I were to do a Librarian it wouldn't have any chapter symbol except for the Legio one? Brother Tyler
The intent is that when the Black Templars detect that a recruit is a psyker, they transfer the undesirable git off to the Legio. The recruit would be trained as a Librarian within the Legio. I doubt that the Librarian would be allowed to wear the colours of the Black Templars, though, since that Chapter looks upon psykers with such distaste. In all likelihood, these brother-Librarians would be "pure Legio" in their outlook and heraldry. As far as multiple members from the same Chapter in the Legio goes, this should be rare. Most Chapters would give 1, maybe 2 at the most, with only a small handful having more than that. Even then, those Chapters would have no more than 5, and there are probably less than a dozen of those Chapters (not including the Black Templars giving up their psykers as described above). The way I look at it, Legio B&C mini characters shouldn't really be tied to a particular point in time. That way, member X can have a character from the Ultramarines, as can members Y and Z, with no problems. Edited October 11, 2009 by Brother Tyler Added the answer to the question about multiple characters from the same Chapter. Messanger of Death
Thanks for the response Brother Tyler. If I go ahead with a Legio Librarian I'll avoid adding any noticeable Templar heraldry. A Legio force lead by a Librarian would make for a great count-as Death Watch squad actually... Dark Apostle Thirst
Unofficial enough to have, say, a Chaos Marine from a warband, or perhaps a heavy flamer bearing assault marine? Brother Tyler
Well, a Chaos Space Marine from a warband would have to be a renegade from the Legio since we don't allow Chaos Space Marines within the Legio. The Legio only has loyalists within its ranks, though we have had a few of our battle-brothers go renegade upon us (a thousand curses upon their disloyal heads!). As for the heavy flamer guy, whatever floats your boat. I suggest sticking to the rules, but that's just a suggestion. Perhaps the Deathwatch RPG might be adapted for the Legio and players won't be restricted to the choices available in the codices. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/262696-legio-bc-minis/page/2/#findComment-2485800 Share on other sites
Sukrai
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Sukrai was awarded the badge 'Legio Mini Me' I would also like to submit a Space Wolf to the fold, Brother Fildrid, former Sky Claw, fulfilling the assault weapon specialization of Assault Squad 2. His armor has several runes painted on it, as well as fangs hanging from loops. Aside from the meltagun that is his primary hunting weapon, he also has a bolt pistol and combat knife. Fildrid is seen as somewhat unstable... even by Space Wolf terms. Not for any mental illness or genetic deviation... but for the fact that he loves flying. More specifically, he loves flying into and amongst armored formations and blowing them up at close range. This love of close up hunting isn't unknown amongst the Wolves of Fenris, but with their predilection for keeping their feet on the ground, having one that prefers the clouds is enough to make even them wonder. Khiros
So I have a question about doing a B&C model. I've seen apothecaries, librarians, etc., but I haven't seen any chaplains. Is there a specific reason for this, or is it just that no one has really submitted one? I'm really interested in doing one up (more as a showcase kind of model than anything). Brother Tyler
There is no real reason - it just appears that no one has submitted any Chaplains. The Legio certainly has Chaplains. Warpchild
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Warpchild was awarded the badge 'Legio Mini Me' Hi all, I thought it would be appropriate to join the Legion before posting anything else. Here is my entry, Brother Dagon of the Angels Penitent. He is wearing the Veteran assault marines` skull helmet. His speciality is the Florentine style fighting (dual wield). Unfortunately his chapter was dying due to the flaw they inherited from the ancestor chapter (BA), the Imperium lost the contact with the last company during a mission. Two tactical squads, two devastator squads and few veteran assault marines remained onboard of their battleship. It is unknown that the chapter will be revived or sent to a final (suicide) mission. Ioldanach
This post was recognized by Brother Tyler! Ioldanach was awarded the badge 'Legio Honour Shield' Brother Brule Onathemes (commonly known as "the Spear Slayer" for reasons I won't go into right now) of the Justice of the Emperor Great Company, formerly of the Avenging Lions Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. You can see Brule's honor shield at right. I'll probably incorporate the honor shield as one of those tilting shield things that we see on the Grey Knights (I've been told that battle brothers of the Legio occasionally do this). This is just a scheme plan for the actual miniature. I chose the Justice of the Emperor Great Company because the Avenging Lions are obsessed with vengeance and justice, and because the black color helps me keep the mini from getting too "busy" (there's already a lot going on with the red helmet, different colored shoulder pads, chest design, weapons, etc. The kneepad will actually be the same black as the rest of the armor, but I made it darker here just so that his allegiance would be clear. The chest design will be different, incorporating the Imperial Laurel and Avenging Lions imagery. I noticed that PhilS added the black and white checks to the right boot, but I'm not sure if that's a "mandatory" part of the scheme. If anyone can fill me in on the checks, I'll figure out if they'll be on the Brule miniature. If a bolter and chainsword aren't mandatory weapons, he'll have other weapons. I'm torn between making him a member of a Tactical squad or an Assault squad (I've got this Greco-Thracian image in my head and it threatens to overly influence the miniature's composition <_< ).
