cypher 89 Posted October 10, 2012 Author Share Posted October 10, 2012 hi thanks guys , i really enjoying getting this army together , i really wanted to capture a battle worn look on the deathwing which i think im achieving but a main thing i wanted to do to bring the model to life was the bases, and i decided on a nice city ruin. the bases were really easy to do i basically put a blob of polly filler onto the base spread it out and the started to put spare bits of building from different scenery parts, but i also used the bottom of the gw movement trays to make a paving stone like effect. Finn Posted October 10, 2012 Share Posted October 10, 2012 The terminators and the LR are truly superb! However, drybrush on the tacticals shows a little bit too much for my tastes. Maybe a glaze or two would help to hide the brushstrokes? I also suspect that the drybrush might be so visible due to flash. The weathering on the Deathwing terminators and the landraider is absolutley excellent. need I say much about the bases either. Real nice work..... ... and since you are doing some painting may i invite you to join your devoted battle brothers on their walk down the Path to Redemption? SG... cypher 89 Posted October 11, 2012 Author Share Posted October 11, 2012 cheers guys im glad to be here ive been on a few different forums and i must say this is the best one , some great and helpful comments. im a big fan of greenwing also furioso-prime and am looking at building a complete company, so far i have 4 tactical squads and a dev squad all built and ready to paint so will be going onto them very soon once ive completed my captain and libby. I really like you detail added bases and the assistance to a theme it gives to the units. With several different paint schemes, sometimes it's hard to draw everything together to look like it all belongs, but your bases help do that for you. I have to agree with Finn, the first couple of battle company squads look a little splotchy, probably because of the dry-brushing, which looks like it may have actually been over-brushing instead. I'll echo the glaze suggestion to help tone that down some. However, your last pic of the DV Tact squad doesn't have that same appearance and looks very nice, so it could just be a trick of the flash in those first couple of photos. I do really like the battle damage you've given to the Deathwing, it really enhances the models without making them look abused. Very cool! I also like your Spartan, the tank looks bad-:D in Deathwing colors, you've done a really nice job with it. Your reds on your Tact squads also looks very nice and rich as well. SG...
