Seeing that the Primarchs and their body guard are getting the limelight from forge world. What sort of unit/rules do you see for the bodyguards we have yet to see?

 

Phoenix Guard

6 to 12 strong

WS5, 2 attacks, Ld 10

Artificer armour

frag and krak grenades

Phoenix blade: Power weapon, two handed +2 initiative, AP3

Chosen warriors

Gain furious charge and fearless if lead by Fulgrim

 

Elite, or a retinue for a praetor/Fulgrim

 

A dedicated close combat unit

 

 

 

What would you make and for who?

Pyre Guard

5-10 Terminators

WS 5 BS 5 S 4 T 4 Wo 1 I 4 A 2 Ld 10 Save +2

 

Wargear:

Master Crafted Terminator Armor (+4 Invulnerable Save)

Master-Crafted Thunder Hammer

Storm Bolter

Infernus Discharger (Assault Grenades)

 

Options:

Any Pyre Guard may trade his Storm Bolter for the following:

Meltagun

Flamer

 

For every 5 Terminators one may trade their Storm Bolter for one of the following:

Heavy Flamer

Multi-Melta

 

 

Special Rules:

Brotherhood of flame - All flamers, heavy flamers, meltaguns and Multi-meltas are twin-linked

Warrior Smiths - All close combat attacks against vehicles gain a +1 to their vehicle damage table rolls.

 

Into the fires of battle: - If Vulkan is included in the army all pyre guard may re-roll failed saves caused by weapons with the Melta type and flame based weaponry (IE: Flamers, Heavy Flamers, Flamestorm Cannons, this list includes any weapon described as being a fire based attack.)

Unto the Anvil of War: -As long as Vulkan is attached to the Pyre Guard, the Pyre guard and Vulkan are completely immune to enemy Pyromancy psychic powers.

AC has only been mentioned once in use on TDA and that was a single short story and it was Imperial Fist.

 

Pretty sure cyclone isn't in service yet so that would be out aswell.

The Awesome Guard:

Khârn+Sevatar+Sigismund+Lucius+Erebus = Awesome guard!

 

Special Rules:

On any roll of a +2 on a six sided die the Awesome Guard destroys whatever unit is in BtB contact or designate one unit to be removed up to 24" away from the Awesome Guard. On a roll of 1 the Awesome Guard stands around bickering about who the best fighter losing their movement and attack for the turn. If two roll's of 1 are produced the unit disintegrates into infighting destroying each other.
