multiple boarding BFG

If I board a ship with multiple ships how it does it work?

I've read the rules and they are not very clear to me

for example

3 cruisers 8 hit point each with Space marines board a chaos cruiser

is it 8x3 hitpoints + 2x3 space marines +2 for triple board value=32 vs 8 hitpoints +1 chaos=9

so the enemy takes 23 hitpoints of damage

Is this correct?

Not quite. Also, 3 ships with marines isn't likely, so let's go with three Strike Cruisers.

First, we each roll a dice. Let's say my SM's get a 4 and your Chaos gets a 5.

We add together each ship's boarding value. For the SM, this will be 6 x 3, which will equal 18.

Then we have the Chaos cruiser's boarding value of 7 (HP, let's say it took one damage earlier) + 2 (Turrets), which is 9.

Compare them. 18 is at least twice the enemy's but no more than, so I would add a further +2 to my dice roll for own boarding value is x2 the enemy's.

Altogether, I'd get 4 (dice roll) + 2 (SM bonus) + 2 (boarding value bonus) and you'd get 5 (dice roll) + 1 (Chaos bonus).

8 - 6 = 2. The Chaos ship suffers 2 damage and takes a Critical Hit on a 4+, while the three Strike Cruisers each take a Critical Hit on a 5+.

Hopefully that's easier to understand!
