hushrong
With great hope and enthusiasm I try yet again to bring forth another army. The recent releases of a new codex and new miniatures have rekindled an old flame. One that I hope will see the galaxy burn! This thread, Dark Gods willing, shall chronicle what will become a Black Crusade detachment. Primarily this army will consist of Iron Warriors alongside other notable legions and perhaps one or two renegade chapters of renowned. To start I would like to represent the start of the Thrice-Cursed Grand Company (quite a mouthful eh?). This legionnaire was painted using the guide featured in the most recent White Dwarf for a rust effect. Essentially, I wanted a dirtier Iron Warrior and for table top quality I am quite pleased with the results. The fella is still WIP but here he is: http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010910.jpg Next up was to be my Khârn count-as for the Iron Warriors. This guy, in the short time that I have used him, has made a mess of countless loyalist marines, terminators, and their armor columns. To start another portion of a Black Crusade force it felt proper to have a Black Legionnaire and this mini deserved some paint. Again, WIP and I become to realize I have ADHD when it comes to painting things. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010904.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010905.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010906.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010907.jpg He may be relegated to a Champion or perhaps a lord. I doubt he will be fielded as a Khârn Count-as. I am really hoping for some new minis of Characters but that is going to be a fun round of the waiting game. Lastly, another Legion Brother steps forth from the shadows… http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010908.jpg This little kitbash may represent the leader of my future Night Lord force. Much like Batman, this fella wants Justice for the wrongs against him. However, he seeks it out in a VERY cruel manner. *I seriously cannot help but think of the Night Haunter as a twisted 40k version of Batman… Also, the raptor bits are great. I am thinking a majority of the NL forces in this BC Detachment will be Raptors. It feels like a Zso Sahaal stereotype unit…but I like the idea of it. Anyways, I have weeks of building and painting ahead of me. I have plenty of seasoned and brand new minis (eyeing my Heldrake and Forgefiend) that really want some attention. Thanks for stopping by! Danny Cyanide
Best of luck with your crusade! I am doing something similar and painting multiple legions really helps to keep you from getting bored! I dig the Iron Warrior, counts as Khârn and the first Night Lord! I'll keep an eye on your progress! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263349-the-eye-bleeds-its-venomous-tears/#findComment-3208416 Share on other sites
subtlebrush
Yes! Good to see you back mate. I myslef have found a fire rekindled in my black heart with the release of the Dark Vengeance box set and a new Codex. Really like the Iron Warrior color scheme your trying out. The dirtier the better I always say hehe. Your counts as Khârn is sick. Loving the skin "cape". Cannot wait to see more from you my friend. Inquisitor Engel
I really like the metal tone you have going on the Iron Warrior. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263349-the-eye-bleeds-its-venomous-tears/#findComment-3208563 Share on other sites

I am doing something similar and painting multiple legions really helps to keep you from getting bored! I dig the Iron Warrior, counts as Khârn and the first Night Lord! I'll keep an eye on your progress! Thanks Danny Cyanide, I am going to need all the luck I can get. :) Also, a Black Crusade force is a great way to get a taste of everything Chaos has to offer! It also brings with it a nice painting challenge because I am going to have to learn to paint a few more colors soon...like pink. Yes!Good to see you back mate. I see the "Word Bearers" by your profile pic :) I do like the dirtier look and I have been contemplating about getting those weathering pigments from Forgeworld (or any other supplier). Fluffwise this BC Detachment will be attacking a desert/arid world and I want to do their bases as sand and dust. Also, my Khârn is a knock-off of my Sons of Malice Khârn :P I really like the metal tone you have going on the Iron Warrior. Thanks Inquisitor Engel but the credit goes to "guy from GW who submitted the recipe for White Dwarf" really. It's a lot different than my usual metal painted on followed by a black wash but I like the look of it. I like it even more when coupled with the copper-ish trim instead of bright gold. Well, I am hoping to get a few more guys built this weekend and then have a basecoating party on either Friday or Saturday. Then the real fun begins. hushrong
Dear Necronomicon, This happened: http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010918.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010919.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010920.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc198/rongboy/P1010921.jpg This is the Warsmith Detestas the Thrice-Cursed in his "Hulked-out" form (a PA form will be coming soon). The Warsmith Detestas was once in his Primarchs good favor. Or simply what had passed for such notion from the cold and distant Perturabo. However, his desire for power became his undoing. For reasons that few dare to speak of the Warsmith was banished from Medrengard but not before being imbued with a cruel blessing. The Primarch imparted his once favored Warmsith with but a drop of his own Daemonic Power (this is well after the Primarchs ascension). Detestas, with this ounce of raw power, is capable of phasing between immortality and mortality but only for brief instances. Upon the fields of war, where the stench of death and thick aroma of rot is on the air, the Warsmith unleashes his lust for dominance against those arrayed against him. Armor and weapons become flesh as his physical form is stretched, torn, and reborn into the form of a hulking, immaterial Daemon Prince. None have ever been able to halt the advance of such a wretched abomination. Yet, despite such grand ascension it is only temporary and eventually the Warsmith reverts back to his genhanced, mortal shell. His body aches, his bones twisted under flesh, his hearts and organs feels as though they are on fire, and his mind is reduced to that of a raving madman for days. It is in this return to his demi-god form the Warsmith is reminded of weakness as true power escapes his grasp yet again. So a little fluff for a mini I had been wanting to put together after looking at left over bits from building a Maulerfiend. Those little mechantendrils looked really cool and I was a bit that I could not use them...but I thought they would look good on a DP. I had also hoped to use one of the Maulerfiends powerfists/arms too but they seemed too large I think. It makes sense as the fiend is quite large...and the DP could use it as a steed (wild idea forms....). Anyways, I have some GS work to try and do to mesh the tentacles and the DP better. Also to note, the ectoplasma cannon arms for the Forgefiend and one of its powerfists would go a long way for a sweet Helbrute :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263349-the-eye-bleeds-its-venomous-tears/#findComment-3214321 Share on other sites
Azekai
The fluff sounds very cool Hushrong! A weredaemon is always fun. It makes sense as the fiend is quite large...and the DP could use it as a steed (wild idea forms....). -and that sounds absolutely mad. You should do it. hushrong
It's been too long yet the Eye bleeds again! http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/3ffcae93-d54f-45cd-bece-035f3e9e82f5_zpsd48526de.jpg Some kitbashing and minor conversion work has never felt so good. Long story short: Started playing at a new LGS, Whose Turn Is It? Games in South Austin, and got addicted to Magic the Gathering. Now our gang of gamers are starting up an escalation league for 40k. So Chaos is out for murder! This dynamic duo represents two of my Champions. hushrong
Hi! It has certainly been awhile but I am happy to find myself back here after a bit of a hiatus. Truth be told a lot of stuff has put the hobby to the back of my mind, this sexy minx is just one of them. I lost a lot of interest in all aspects of wargaming whether it is 40k, warmachine/hordes, and infinity which were my main three. Yet, there has always been a little whisper that keeps pulling me back to Chaos for some reason. So while I am here trying to exercise my creative muscle I will be using this old thread for my projects. The Cult of Golden Tears is on permanent hold. None of my close friends play 40k anymore, in fact they sold everything they had. Turns out despite my lack of interest I am the last hold-out as I vowed never to sell off my chaos. NEVER! I did give a little away but it was vehicles I will never use. Anyways, some EC from the Golden Tears may crop up here as I have plenty of them around My latest project, The Hounds of Perturabo may end up serving in different colors than planned so that thread may be inappropriate for them soon. The reason can be seen below. *sorry for my photos, my phone and photobucket aren't working out for me. http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/image_zpsa065c6e3.jpg I had been looking at this Night Lord helm and thought about removing the comical wings. It would have to look good, right? After removing the wings I liked it, at this stage it kind of reminded me of the previous raptors. It is a semi long, sloping helm with a predatory look. Then...I decided to recycle those comical wings... http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/image_zps76fc8870.jpg I kind of like it. Just now I teeter-tooter on whether it looks even more awesome or comical. Also, that's another helm with comical bat wings removed. Anyways, I will have to do some GS work later when I have another one or two more raptors built. So now I have this: http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/image_zps9690a09d.jpg I really want to finish this Kill Team but I am thinking they will be going Midnight Clad. Ave Dominus Nox, anyone? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263349-the-eye-bleeds-its-venomous-tears/#findComment-3851601 Share on other sites
hushrong
Fourth raptor standing on two legs! http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/image_zpsa2e011eb.jpg This fella spent most of his time as a floating torso before being taken apart and put back together. I'm going to build one more raptor before going back and filling in gaps on this guy and my previous installment. I am also running into brick walls mentally thinking about background fluff. When these guys were going to be Iron Warriors, I had it down as Air Combat Controllers...but now I am trying to think of what I would like out of these soon-to-be Night Lords. Also, if I can get a few things right, a new Son of Malice... http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p779/theironwithin/image_zpsd33bef9d.jpg Just trying to get bits together.
