Brother Ambroz
So we've got the standard one in the TDA Lord/Sorceror box but I'm not really satisfied with it. Anyone have any ideas or can provide links to some small daemonic/xenos looking creatures that could be used? Razblood
I used to use an old Carrion rider from Fantasy as a Familiar, there was also a mini range of them available a while ago from GW, not sure if you could still get them now though? There are a hell of a lot on ebay if you search for "familiar chaos" :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263355-spell-familiars/#findComment-3208482 Share on other sites
Kol Saresk
You could always use the Hamadrya from Huron's mini. Unless the GW pics lied and he doesn't come with a familiar. Durus
GW Link1 GW Link2 Rackham had a lot of them as well. Link. Reaper of course, too. Link. They have all kinds of miniatures. Hasslefree have a few smaller minis as well. Link. There are lots of other manufacturers as well of course, just have a look around. In every range there are usually smaller/one-off/critter minis. It might be worth to check out smaller scales as well. A 15mm Monster might make a nice familiar next to a 28mm mini. Or animal sculpts depending on what you are after. Lots of choices. If you know a O&G player you could see if you can get a spare Nightgoblin. Easy to convert into something like a "watcher in the dark". The old Necrach vampires had haemonkuli like that. If you can get your hands on a cherubim from an Inquisitor retinue (GW doesn't seem to sell the henchemen blisters anymore) you could add some horns a tail and you'd have an appropiately twisted mirror image of the imperial version. Yep. Lots of possibilities. I'll just stop here. :) +edit+ I'll just throw another link in here. Crocodile Games. Look into the icons and artifacts sections. Oh, and just to have said it, it doesn't need to be a creature on the base, does it? It could be a pile of books or something like that. Brother Ambroz
Very nice links there Duros. Probably end up using one of those. Thinking one of the reptilians or a lion eske one would go well with my Fallen sorceror. sunspear
Does it say anywhere what size base the familiar has to be on? Just curious as I was thinking about doing a conversion to one of the fenrisian wolves. Brother Ambroz
Doesn't really say they have to be on a base, does it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263355-spell-familiars/#findComment-3216097 Share on other sites
sunspear
Yeah, I don't think it does. I just got the codex though so I couldn't remember. It's one of those cool bits, cause it can be just about anything really.
