AngelVeto
OK, My best friend and I are quite at the opposite ends of the spectrum... He has a Space wolf tattoo (3rd ed player kind of lends loyalty) I have both a Dark Angels tattoo and a Deathwatch Crux tattoo ( again, #rd edition player back from a long break...see thread http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=261324 ) We also play the FFG RPG Deathwatch, with our respective chapters. and throughout role playing solely we have formed a bond over the 2.5 decades we have fought by each others side. (we started playing deathwatch when it first came out, as it was so amazing and nerd-boner worthy we couldn't resist) since our initial oath to the Ordo Xenos we have progressed from nearly coming to blows within 30 minutes of making landfall to now trusting each other so far as I ( librarian) pushed past him in an attempt to save him from a genestealer sneak attack (he had less than 10 wounds remaining from earlier in the hulk and at the time I still had 20 wounds(dropped to 11 after that combat)) Through role playing, he gifted unto me (Angelus) a Flagon of Fenrisian ale. now following our character development and role playing friendship, he has carouse +30, and I have given myself carouse +20 due to his tutelage (really expensive for a Dark Angels player, but rule of cool/self generated fluff > cannon in this universe) I have Also taken to not shaving... which through the course of 2 years sees me with less than a fu-Manchu mustache and stubble over my face, but Acheron (SW player) has taken this as quite the sign of loyalty ( leave it to a Wolf to be impressed by even a modicum of Facial Hair ;-) So enough 4 sips of ale rambling... I Wish to give unto him a Token that not only shows my unyielding loyalty to Acheron as an Individual but the Space Wolves as a whole. But unlike the Wolves I can not think of something suitable enough to convey everything I want with this one item... I'm looking for something that shows Brotherhood, the overcoming of predetermined dispositions, my willingness to answer his call whenever/wherever it may come, that I would rather see my gene-seed tainted and destroyed than any harm come unto him... The Nearest fluffy old school thing I could think of was a few feathers together, and I don't really like that as a primary idea... SO this is calling out to all the Sons of the Lion and Sons of Russ looking for Ideas. Wolves, I am asking for something you would feel conveyed all of that in such a way as unmistakable what I was saying without saying anything Dark Angels, I'm looking for something fluffy enough but not one of a kind that I could give unto him. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I truly want a heavy sense of camaraderie between the two of us before our next mission Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263388-calling-all-brothers-of-the-i-and-vi-legions/ Share on other sites
Oir
Now, I'm not a brother of either chapter, but might I humbly suggest your sword? Or if you do not have one, some other important weapon which you have bourne/added to? From my understanding of Dark Angels, the sword would undoubtedly be a potent symbol, and it would undoubtedly be recognised by a son of Russ for everything that you wish it to stand for. Are we not all warriors? Is not the sword our heart and soul? (Also, let's not forget a certain pair of brothers whom made weapons for each other which forged their brotherhood properly) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263388-calling-all-brothers-of-the-i-and-vi-legions/#findComment-3208825 Share on other sites
Karack Blackstone
As an avid fan of DW RPG, and a SW Roleplayer in said system, I have to ask, what's his Specialty? If Assault or Tactical, I may be able to help with a model to best represent him on the tabletop, as there is a PA box only bits construction SW that can be a great Wolf Priest standin, with or without a Jump Pack (sadly pack is separate). A few other ideas will require more information, if possible to help me formulate what can be done. Cactus
I would also suggest a sword. He probably already has a better one but it's the thought that counts. Or maybe a Book of Remembrance that chronicles Angelus and Wolfboy's missions together? Avon Rekaes
How bout a robe? Let him know he's good enough to wear it. Like our Veterans ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263388-calling-all-brothers-of-the-i-and-vi-legions/#findComment-3209238 Share on other sites
Karack Blackstone
How bout a robe? Let him know he's good enough to wear it. Like our Veterans :D With all due respect, Brother-in-arms from another Chapter, there's a great deal of misunderstanding between our two forces over the wearing of robes. A DA/SW colors Kilt might go over a bit better, just to say it. WatchCaptainAzrael
Perhaps you could invest in a Trade skill and craft him a weapon feather charm? It's sufficiently tribal to appeal to his sensitivities, it's close enough to the Dark Angels to be iconic, and if the GM allows it will give his bolter a bitching Accurate trait and never jam. :D Robes and swords... That's a bit too personal. Remember your Chapter Demeanor; true fellowship can only be found within the Chapter. You just don't give away such links to your Chapter, that's bordering on betrayal. AngelVeto
He is an Assault Marine. and while we are of high enough rank for a advanced specialty he hasn't picked one yet. Karack Blackstone
In that case, he'd be a Wolf Guard; with a Jump Pack box and if possible a SW PA Box, it might be an interesting gift to make him a model on the tabletop to show his true options as a warrior. Without getting into the need to discuss whether you or your friend or both are building the model, perhaps simply getting him the two items above, assuming one can afford it, might be a helpful step? I was going to recommend the Wolf Priest build I use, however as he's not yet selected that specialty from First Founding, then it would not apply. The other option I was thinking of is not easy, so let me think on this. What is his normal loadout if he has one? The toys for the boys he always brings to the fight. Growler67
Gifting a suitable Battle Knife would seem an appropriate "Token" and may even be considered "Totemic" by your Wolf Brother. Avon Rekaes
The robe suggestion was a bit tongue-in-cheek. I'm well aware the SW consider them "dresses". For a serious suggestion, I would combine Growler's with WatchCaptainAzrael's. (Karak, I think you're confused. AngelVeto is looking for an in-game gift his character can give his friends character. A tabletop mini would be a gift from one player to another, which while cool, isn't the situation here.) But back to the combo. A combat knife with some sort of feather charm attached to it. You can explain to him the significance behind the feathers, and I think a Space Wolf would be able to appreciate the lore behind it and the Deathwing (leaving out the "hunt the fallen" tidbits. Mainly the whole "defend a recruiment world no matter the sacrifice" and the "paint armor with bone ash" stuff.) Brother Immolator
Ask the techmarines to forge you a miniature version of rams skull with an inscribed I at the forehead pierced by a winged sword. No larger than a mans fist so that he can carry it around as a token of remembrance. It symbolizes both your status as a DA librarian and your brotherhood in the deathwatch. I think guns blades and feathers are too much and common. The point is to make something unique as a symbol not as a tool me thinks. Growler67
Karak, did the OP say he was making a model? I think the idea is for an in-character gift. He did in his second post to this thread: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=263392 I just took it that because they Role Play with miniature to improve the visuals of the gaming experience, that the "in game" gifting would also be represented on the model as well....thus the comment he made: "it's more of a role playing gift, but something I can get from a sprue or make with green stuff so he can put it on the model he has representing his character" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263388-calling-all-brothers-of-the-i-and-vi-legions/#findComment-3210488 Share on other sites
AngelVeto
Yes, that is true. we do Have models representing our characters, as through our group of friends we also have enough tau/ork/tyranid/chaos models to represent our foes. and we use a white board which we draw maps and floor plans on to add too it as well. I'm actually remaking m model alongside my October Vow as he's rank 7 champion librarian now... and the old bolt pistol force sword metal librarian isn't cutting it anymore.
