Ullanor

The exact date isn't really mentioned but Horus Rising takes place in the 203rd year of the Great Crusade and that immediately followed Ullanor

The thing is that the events depicted in Fallen Angels, after the initial purge on Isstvan, before the Dropsite Massacre, are said to have happened during the 200th year of the Great Crusade. Now, that could be just inaccurate, but it gets reiterated at the beginning of each chapter.

The exact dates or years are really not clean cut at all, which is too bad. It makes me wonder if those Horus Heresy meetings actually worked with something like a real timeline, a chart in which to mark the events of the books, and make sure they don't trip over their own feet.

I mean, how hard could it be to draw a line starting year-x, ending year-y with the siege of terra, and marking the events of the proposed books right on that scale? Well, it can't be helped.

One also has to adjust from the sidereal and check the "check-sum reliability offset" (or whatever they call it) on the actual full-fledged date rendering in IoM format. It could be off quite a bit, relativistically speaking. Three whole years? I dunno, but given the vagaries of warp travel...anything's possible.
