Ram21202
so ive been thinking alot about the Cadian Gate and the Crusades and what not and have had an idea. seeing how cadia is a fortress world and is the only safe rout out of the Eye why doesn't Cadia have a Astartes Chapter of its own? So ive started a project to create such a chapter and have started to put together the fluff for the Fists of Cadia but was wondering what ya'lls thoughts would be on the whole idea. Erasmus of Baal
Check your fluff sources. There aren't any Chapters stationed actually on Cadia (their military is probably the most badass part of the Imperial Guard), but there are a number of Chapters stationed nearby, most famously the Iron Hands. You're trying to jam even more into a well-packed space, and let's face it: Your DIY Chapter does not need a station of that importance to be incredibly awesome. Kristoff
It doesn't have to stop there, though. The name could be fine if you fluffed the story properly. Something like: the original Chapter Master was fathered by a Cadian Veteran who mustered out and stayed on the last planet he fought on. His children grew up hearing about the stories of Cadia and their well drilled troops. These stories stayed with him and inspired him to become the best young soldier his world had. His efforts attracted the attention of {the training chapter he came from} as they passed through. Thus began his career in {the Training Chapter} and he progressed strongly and well, eventually becoming a Captain. Soon the call came for his Chapter to train a new a member of the {whatever} Founding. He answered the call to lead, becoming the fledgling Chapter's first Master. As he meditated on the Chapter's name, visions of his father's stories came back to him, along with visions of members of his new chapter fighting at a focal point of Cadia's defenses. With these visions, he now knew that their chapter would be called the Fist(s) of Cadia. Leading strikes to punish those who would seek to harm Cadia's Gates. Something like that. Ram21202
Now if fluff wise having a chapter based on Cadia itself.... would having a fleet based chapter that recruits from cadia be acceptable? Erasmus of Baal
Now if fluff wise having a chapter based on Cadia itself.... would having a fleet based chapter that recruits from cadia be acceptable? IMO, no. Cadia, even more so than other worlds famous for their PDFs or IG regiments, need those young boys going into the regular military. Astartes are cool and badass, but they can't hold lines like a million men with a few thousand tanks.
