stephane4985
I want to know your opinions, experiences about using the stormraven as a transport. Yesterday I used it to transport 10 purifiers with Brotherhood Champion and Inquisitor. Arrives on turn 2, turn 3 everybody disembark and proceed to kill off 75% of the other side. So I wanted to try that again, but now that I think of it, the risk of having the flyer kill on turn 2 in zooming and having all those inside killed by str10 hit is making me think twice about trying to pull that off again. It seems that the consequence of having the flyer destroyed is pretty big. So I was thinking of maybe deepstriking the raven instead. So it might get destroyed, but at least the squads will survives. Or I could just use a land raider...... Anyway, Do you guys take that risk? Use deepstrike? What are your thoughts? himkano
I stopped using them on my Blood Angels for the same reason, although I did use them successfully a few times. Remember, you don't have to come on the board zooming. If you come on in hover mode and then move flat out in the shooting phase, I think (I don't have my book on me) you can move 36"+ in hover mode - you only get to shoot 1 weapon at normal BS (because of PotMS), but you also got a 4+ cover save without jinking. Moving 36" and then 6" and unloading 6" will probably let you touch any part of the board you need to. You'll be hit easier, but you'll have a better save against big stuff, and you won't lose your unit if you fail it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263583-putting-unit-inside-stormraven/#findComment-3211423 Share on other sites

spartan249
Slight nitpick: the maximum range is 30" the turn you arrive. The shrouding could be helpful as well, as it would increase the odds of you reaching your target intact. I was about to suggest that you throw in some crusaders or draigo to soak up the S10 hits should the occasion ever come to pass. Either way works though, even if this method reduces your reach a little bit. BLACK BLΠFLY
My main tactic to make the Stormraven survivable is to have other 'in your face' units that act as a distraction to draw the heat off it. Purifiers charging out of the Stormraven can really dish out a lot of damage but you can afford to lose one unit if it's shot down in zoom mode. Remember that while the Stormraven is in hover mode you don't have to worry about the big explosion plus it gets a better cover save. GOFADK
Remember that while the Stormraven is in hover mode you don't have to worry about the big explosion plus it gets a better cover save. yes, but it is allso much easier to hit. I would prefer 5+ cover save and 6 to hit my stormraven, insted of normal BS to hit and a 4+ cover save.
