Almost back to the Aett!

I have my last Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament of the "season" this upcoming Saturday and will finally be able to get back to my less time consuming hobby of Warhammer 40k and start on my new Wolves army.

I have managed to assemble a venerable dreanought with heavy flamer/DCCW and plasma cannon, but it is not properly wolfed out yet. Next up on the assembly lines looks to be opening up a SW battleforce to combine with two Space Marine Tactical Squad boxes. First little force from this bout of assembly and painting looks to be,

Wolf Priest (Gamesday model)

Rune Priest (metal one, not Finecast)

Venerable in droppod

Wolf Scouts

GH pack x10

GH pack x10

Just a kicking around force to get playing. Mess around with OBEL Wolf Scouts, Saga of Hunter Wolf Priest outflanking with GH, and then drop podding venerable. Seems at the lower point level might be fun.

Seen some others slowly popping up and starting to be more active as far as modeling, so guess I am not alone.

Welcome back Brother!!

But wow what a neat diversion!! Must be neat to have that level of mastery.

As for your battleforce... were you looking for comments on the force or just making a statement of intent B)?

I am just looking for anybody that has been running some outflanking forces beyond Wolf Scouts to see how they are going.

I run 3 Outflankers with my 2k Redmaw list to (so far) great success; 1) Redmaw with 10 Fenrisian Wolves using his SoH rule 2) A pack of 10 GH, a WGPL and a Rune Priest using Redmaws Patient Killers rule (allows them to OBEL just like Wolf Scouts) and 3) A pack of 10 GH, a WGPL and a Wolf Priest with SoH. They are absolutely nasty particularly with being able to re-roll where they are coming in. A Rune Priest in my opponents deployment zone just causes major havoc, particularly when my opponents forget that they can come in back there and they move forward leaving their flanks exposed.

All in all it's a fun list. I have been tempted to swap out the Fen wolves and outflank some more GH with Redmaw, but points are the limiting factor atm. The GH are much hardier than the Fen wolves are, but at 80 points for 10 its hard to not run them.

Hope that answers a few questions for ya....

Amazing... will add more when I get back to the office.

I've fully embraced 6th ed by fielding a first war of armegeddon list. Steel legion and Space Wolves and its been pretty cool so far.

I've taken as my gaurd allies:

Regimental command

astropath

2x vets with autocannon, grenade launcher, camo cloaks

vendetta

As my Wolves

Wolf Priest

Saga of the hunter

Plasma Pistol

Wolf Lord

TDA

Frost axe & Frost blade

Belt of Russ, WTN

4 WG

1x power axe, CML

1x chain fist

1x thunder hammer

1x Frost Blade & Storm shield

Drop pod

2x Hunter squads

2xplasma

power axe

standard

Drop Pod

Hunter squad

2xplasma

plasma pistol

MotW

Wolf Standard

Wolf Guard,TDA, CML

*outflank with Wolf Priest

Long Fangs

5x Heavy Bolters

And then whatever tanks I want sometimes dreads sometimes preds.

The Outflanking squad + astropath has been the mvps almost everygame, the +1 to reserves + acute sense gets me the squad where I want it when I want it pretty much all the time. Its equiped to deal with most every threat. I get the Line breaker objective, and with clever positioning when I deploy the gaurd I can unlease the support fire from the autocannons at the same target. I've been using premeasuring to give myself fire lanes.

The Linebreaker squad puts out 6 plasma shots, and 2 missiles with prefered enemy. Plus 14 bolter shots to I can mass plasma wounds on 2+ save characters.

In combat it has 9 grey hunters(18-27 attacks) MotW, 4 s6 ap4 attacks and 2 s5 ap 3 attacks. With Wolf standard if I've chosen prefered enemy against something that isn't charging me. So far no unit type has really been safe from it.

The key I've found is having reserves already on the field that can set advanced positions to assault from. Hence my sometimes use of dreads in drop pods to assault any remainder from the shooting and leaving the unit free to move on.
