EricBasser
So, I'm running a 2 FMC and the Heldrake. I'm a little worried about Quad Guns and the Lascannons. When I deepstrike my flamers, can I target the artillery and claim first blood with it? The same can be done to a bastion too I assume. With the defense line, targeting the artillery you can get the unit behind it too. I don't think the unit joins the artillery cannon, and with two wounds, it should be easy to destroy. Is this a viably tactic? Or should I target my flamers elsewhere? Another not with Flamers is ruins. Since they are jump infantry, they can pick the floor they flame. Not just +/- the floor they are on. Bastions are different, so I don't think they can flame the top of it since it is not a ruin. I need to double check the ruling though. Whatare tactics people use with rhem? Any targets not to point them at? Another thing I like doing with flamers is attaching a Herald on disc. It widens the deepstrike footprint and allows more templates to drop when they land. As far as i can tell, you can target the gun at the defense line but it doesn't give you a first blood (i may be wrong about the second one though) As for the Bastion the weapons are part of the building and can be destroyed by the building damage table, note that buildings don't have hull points so you can't destroy them with glancing hits. I believe sacrificing a unit of flamers right it the middle of an enemy gunline is a waste of a very powerful unit even if you do get the defense line quad gun. I would also consider the possibility of mishap so close to an enemy line. Whatare tactics people use with rhem? Any targets not to point them at? I don't think there are any targets in the game that can't die from the breath of chaos. Any target you point them at will get burn if you got enough of them. I usually deploy my flamers in a flank of the enemy army close enough so that they can be a threat the turn after. Almost every time i deploy them second wave so that my opponent is already commited on hitting other stuff by the time they arrive. Choosing between a Bloodthirster ready to get a charge or a unit of flamers can be quite tough. Against a heavy assault army they could also be used to keep other units from getting assaulted by staying at the front waiting for someone to make the mistake of charging them.
