Hellrender
Hello all, I signed up for the Call of Chaos, and this is going to be the place where i show it off. First my pledge: Gods of Chaos hear my call! I Hellrender hereby pledge my soul, my allegiance and that of my troops', to Chaos Eternal. I swear to you that I will paint and present a Lord of Chaos, and 20 Chaos marines of The Night Lords, before January 18th, 2013. I also promise to provide a project update, at least twice per month. Since we are allowed to have them assembled before the 2nd of nov, here is a peek: http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l579/UltraWaarom/Night%20Lords/DSC03983.jpg As you can see i blatantly stole the idea from Raz's Word Bearers, which are completly awesome. I will see if i can write a piece of fluff to go with these Night Lords, and put it in here when i've got it ;) I will be using various bits and things, and these are the only ones i've got, so its going to be a busy three months :) Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/263829-night-lords-wip/ Share on other sites

Hellrender
Thanks, he is my favorite aswell :D Some updates: I tried to sculpt some flayed skin, i think it worked quite alright :) http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l579/UltraWaarom/Night%20Lords/IMG_20121101_134521.jpg I gave that guy an arm in his hand, i will have to thicken the hand that holds the arm a bit, aswell as sculpt something at the end of the arm, but not sure yet how.. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l579/UltraWaarom/Night%20Lords/IMG_20121101_164734.jpg http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l579/UltraWaarom/Night%20Lords/IMG_20121101_164722.jpg Thats it for now. I did start painting on 6 of them. 1 i tried the army painter dark tone quick shade on, and on one i did the washes. i think i will stick to washes, as it gives nearly the same result, with a lot less mess. Quick shade gives a cleaner look on the model. I hope to have pics of those 6 later today, maybe tomorrow, depending on how much free time i got. Hellrender
and another WIP update. The blue and red is sort of done. Now the lightning, base, and blood. On this pic, you can see the one i tried the Army Painter Quick Shade dark tone on, its very glossy... i hope i get that away with just Satin Varnish.. we'll see http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l579/UltraWaarom/Night%20Lords/IMG_20121105_105749.jpg and the other side of the group, with bat ears! http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l579/UltraWaarom/Night%20Lords/IMG_20121105_105802.jpg Question is, do i base with hobby sand, or with the new textured paint? Brother Ulkesh
Nice work, Hellrender. I like the effort you're putting in with the GS & severed arms, etc. For what it's worth, I prefer sand to texture paint on bases. Maybe I'm just rubbish with the paint, but when I tried it, it looked a lot... plainer... than when I use sand. Might just be me, though.
