Warboss Gunney
So I spent some time working with the Dark Vengeance set using the new and old paints along with the new brushes. The manager at the store showed me some good tips and techniques. However I dislike the fine detail brush. it is not good for those really fine details. I am looking for something as small with a stiffer point. my problem is painting the really small detailed areas, like the face(cyborg implant, eye) on the DA Librarian. it requires more precision than I can get with the fine detail brush. I find the dry brush, shading brush, basing brush, and starter brush all work well, the detail and fine detail brush though i am unhappy with. Urauloth
The fine detail brush is a decent workhorse, but for actually painting fine details you'll probably want something of a higher quality. A W&N Series 7 (double or triple zero) is a very good investment, and there are a couple of other brushes out there of similar quality. Lorenzen
a stiffer point is probably not what you need.. thinner paint will allow it to flow off the tip better, allowing for much easier control than you are currently getting. otherwise we'd all be using needles and dotting paint on. ianj253
+1 for the W&N 7 series and +1 for thinning paint. Citadels fine detail brushes have bad tips and the hair frays easily. It doesn't need to be a stiff tip just a fine, pointed tip that stays that way. It's also very important to take care of your brushes. A quick clean and condition with a brush soap will go miles.
