Small update! I've just got his back pack (and a little more work on what I've done so far) to do. I'm happy enough with the stylised feel to the model. I think the metallics could have come out better but they'll do.

Honestly when i was reading this topic, I completely forgot about half way through that torso was even sculpted. In other words, its pretty darn perfect if you ask me. Its simple and excellently executed. I also very much like the gun...and the painting....and the helm.....well I just sort of love the whole damn model!!!

Thanks for all the positive comments!

@ Firepower - I think my tenders will be painful after working through an army of these guys! But I already have fully painted armies for 40k, fantasy, Warmachine and lots more besides. This project is definitely going to be for the long term, so I'm not putting myself under too much pressure to get through it!

@ Captain Cirrius, Battle Brother-Ludovic, Sugar-Free & Jeremy1391- Thanks!

@ Castellan Cato - The purple is a spray undercoat of Army Painter (I love their undercoat sprays!) alien purple. Then washed with Vallejo Violet Wash. Then I built up cross-hatched (my art teacher would be proud!) layers of Army Painter Alien Purple pain, Vallejo blue violet, and vallejo pink paints. I tried to paint as if the light is hitting the model from the front top left. One of the best painting tips I ever got was not highlighting a model all over, my models used to look like light was hitting them from everywhere! I used a wet palette (which I can't recommend enough) to blend some of the colours for highlighting up, but because of the cross-hatch technique I don't have to be too worried about smooth blending, as I'm going for a bit more of a textured look.

Hope this helps!?

@ Token - Yep they're Forge World small brass etch eagles, one sheet should just about do an army. I cut my finger badly when bending the eagle into shape around the handle of my hobby knife (on the eagle not the knife!). Brass etch is sharp!

This guys back pack may get painted this weekend, would be nice to finish him off! If not, I'll post more progress asap. Cheers again!

Hi again,

Sorry for the late reply Token! Yes a very small amount of superglue on the eagles. They're very small and a big dollop of glue could ruin the detail. If you've bent the eagle to the right shape first (be careful not to cut yourself!) it should stay on the chest plate well enough.

Without further ado, here's some pictures of my first completed Emperor's Children warrior with massive Autocannon!

And a picture of a pose I've been figuring out for my first Raptor. WYSIWYG has sort of gone out of the window since I picked up some cool Anvil Industry shields at Salute!

I also picked up an Emperor's Children Contemptor Dreadnought and two Contemptor Close Combat Arms. £48.00 is a lot of money for one model but what a lovely model it is!

Any comments would be appreciated, it's taken a long time to get round to finishing this guy!

Thanks Deathspectresgt7!

Just wanted to give a quick tip about the shield in case it helps you. I nearly walked away from the stall without shield arms for the shields. I'd recommend to buy them, as it'll probably save a bit of messing around with bits. They're probably easy to see on the Anvil website, but I only got them because I asked if they did them on the off chance. There's two types of shield arms, armoured and un-armoured. Hope this helps!
