Hi everone

 

During the weekend just there, I went down to Warhammer World in Nottingham for the Throne of Skulls October event. There I would be spending the weekend battling it out against five different oppents.

 

For this event, I re-started my Iron Warriors just last year to mark ten years of collecting & taken them to Throne of Skulls April. With the release of a brand new codex a few weeks ago, it would be rude not to take the Iron Warriors again & because anyone know me, know the Iron Warriors are my force I use for events & well as said I collected them for just over ten year now!!

 

For those who have not seen my battle reports. It end to be photo heavy & a bit on the game. This is just due to trying to rememeber everthing, then there the three days worth of gaming & then the travel from Scotland to Nottingham.

Prometheus was a world that was liberated by the Iron Warriors during the great crusade. The Imperial turned it into a Forge World to help supply the Imperial armies during the great crusade. Since then a millennium has passed and that time of the great crusade has become myth & legend. Now a Black Templar Crusade Force is stationed there, re-supplying for a crusade they planned to launch to the east of the Imperial border against a Xenos threat.

 

Now a millennium after the Horus Heresy, when Battle Brother fought Battle Brother. the Iron Warriors have returned to take back Prometheus. Their aim is to turn the Forge World in to a place to create Daemonic Engines & weapons to help their Legion battle against the Imperial & anyone else who would stand in their way.

 

After gaining a foot hold on the planet Warsmith Abhorred Riddick, the overall commander of the Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company, has ordered his protégé, Iron Captain Narach Delau, to go out & lead his company to attack the Ancient Forge Keep of the Mechanicus on Prometheus. The Forge Keep had been made by the Iron Warriors during the great crusade & it holds a relic of their Legions

The Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company has been around since the Great Crusade, when gods walked among men & humanity was being reunited after the darkness of “old night”. The Iron Warriors along with the other Space Marine legions were hailed as heroes, until the Emperor betrayed them. The Iron Warriors along with seven other Space Marine legions took sides with Horus Lupercal & pledged their loyalty to the Chaos. This led to the Horus Heresy, where brother would fight brother.

Since then, the Iron Warriors 5th Grand Company have fought in many wars & campaigns against the Imperial, other chaos legions & Xenos races. They fought along with their Primarch Perturabo during the Iron Cage. Throughout the 10th Black Crusade along with other Iron Warrior Grand Companies, the 5th Grand Company helped attack the Iron Hands Chapter on Medusa, the Iron Hands own home world. During the 13th Black Crusade the 5th Grand Company fought on the very ground of Cadian. There they honoured the chaos gods by building a great fortification on Kasr Sonnen.

 

 

The optical zoom whirled on the auto-scope as Lord Narach looked into the gaping wound his siege engines had opened up in the Adeptus Mechanicus Forges’ flank. The same engines lay silent for some 40 metres to either side of him all but exhausted of ammunition. The trench made defences they nestled in and the reinforced command bunkers were impressive even to his well trained eye, but of course they would have been, having been constructed under his orders and supervision. Up the slope almost a mile distant the Forge Fortress billowed smoke from its breached side.

 

From the rock-crete composition and architecture the Fortress, Narach had been tasked with grinding the defenders to dust in the name of Warsmith Abhorred Riddick.

 

Half broken orders and weapons fire crackled through the comm’s when it managed anything more than white noise and static. The smoke screen of swirling white mist twisted and danced with the black smoke generated by the burning vehicles inside the breach. It obscured any attempt to discern anything of the assault; Narach cursed the human guard, Imperial Guards who fallen under the darkness of Chaos & now serve as fodder to the Iron Warriors. Had assured Narach, the winds would have picked up by now to clear the sight of the fighting.

 

 

The fighting had been going on for almost 8 minutes now, too long without a clear signal. He hated not knowing. Narach scanned the smoke obscured breach again; the smoke was clearing now, if too slowly for his liking. A burning Rhino sprawled out of the smoke, its front hull section almost blown in two, a massive exit wound but relatively little entry damage, classic Lascannon round from the Black Templars. Coming apart in chunks of twisted metal as is smashed down the rocky slope.

Through the mist of battle, Narach could see armoured shapes of his brother Iron Warriors moved like spectres in the swirling clouds of smoke as they pushed forward toward the Forge Keep.

 

The scene reminded Narach of a moment during the siege. He’d pushed into the promenade of the first line of the defending walls, his battle brothers around him as they drove back the Imperial Fists from their defences guarding the gates inside the Imperial Palace. He emptied his combi-bolter into a wounded Imperial as he tried to limp through the gates. The armour around his leg cracked and he fell to the floor. Narach had charge, in a second plunging his serrated combat knife repeatedly into his neck. The sprays of warm blood had been glorious, the pathetic shriek of the Imperial Fist more so.

Narach snapped back to the present, he pushed the memory of the Siege of the Emperor’s Palace back. Too few of his glorious brethren were emerging from the assault. He’d issued the order,

 

“Bring forth Ferrum Draco the Vindacator siege tank & the Obliterators Cult”.

 

‘Acknowledged my Lord’. Narach gazed up at the defiant form of the Forge, his lips twisting into a snarl.

 

“Bring about my transport and assemble my guard, we launch our final assault on Prometheus!”

 

Practise game 1

Innocence Proves Nothing

Mission – Big Guns never tire, Dawn of War set up

Army – Grey Knights

 

After booking into my hotel. Me & my friend Iain went to Warhammer World on the Friday afternoon to get a practise game. Also for me to met up with people I know from past Throne of Skulls events & friends who had travel down for the weekend.

 

Iain was useing his Grey Knight force & I think it been two years since we last got a game, last time was my Space Wolf army against his Blood Angels.

 

It was a really great games, everthing was committed into the game. I think for Iain he was really happy when one of his units of Henchmen killed my Chaos Lord from there d3 Flamer shots from overwatch when I try to assault & killed the last few members of the unit.

 

While for me, I finial got to roll on the boon table chart for my Chaos Lord surviving a attack from a Grey Knight with Daemon Hammer. I ended up getting +1T for the result, this was before he assaulted into the unit with flamer. Some times the Chaos gods can be fickle......

 

But it was great to get the game vs Iain & it always great to be in Warhammer World, which is starting to become my second home.

Army Daemons

 

After my game against Iain & getting some food in Bugman bar. I ended up given Andy a game against his brand new Daemon force he started for ToS October. I fought Andy last year ToS April & then we got a practise game during ToS April. Again like before this was a brilliant game & I learnt a lot about the Daemons since they where updated a few months ago. Flamers are scary!! & those Screamers of Tezentch? I started to see a lot of these show up in Daemon armies in my local gaming area.

 

Also sorry for the lack of photos. Some times when I am in a game, I can get to focuse & end up ether forgetting to take photos or if people are watching the game & trying to talk to me I tend to not notice/everthing out side of the game all blank to me. It was the same in college when I was making a model, apparently people in my class would try to ask me question I never notice.

 

I learnt a lot from this game & not just against the new Daemons, but for 6th ed overall it taught me a lot which is great & why I like attend events, gaming against all the different oppents & armies.

 

After the game I pick up the brand new Heresy novel base on Iron Warriors & met up with people I know from past Throne of Skulls & local tournaments up here in Scotland. Then after words I went back to my hotel, making sure everthing was all there for the weekend.

Storm Talon down

Mission – Kill points, \ set up

Army – Space Marines with Imperial Guard allies

 

Start of the Throne of Skulls weekend & I would be face Space Marines of the Silvier Skulls Chapter with Imperial Guard allies from Chris.

Chris went on to win the Best Space Marine player award as well during the weekend & rightly so. He was a great oppent & his force was really great with the Space Marines come down by Drop Pods & supports by the Imperial Guards who would set up on turn 1. While the Valkyrie & Storm Talon supported each other when they came onto the table from reserve.

 

This was a great start to the weekend & a relax game but also very bloody. Chris Space Marines force also had nice conversion, useing Techmarines models converted up to be Sergeants for his Tactical Marines & useing the different mix of Forge World armours as well.

 

After round 1 it was time to set our armies out on the gaming table & also to get food. Also during the Saturday Graham McNeill was there to sign his brand new Heresy novel which feature Iron Warriors.

I’d fought Colin back in Throne of Skulls July last year with my Space Wolves, against his DIY Space Marine Chapter.

During the weekend it was great to met up with him self & Mark. After I got Graham McNeill to sign the new Heresy book, Colin came up to saw we had been draw to game against each other. This year we’d both have new armies, me with the Iron Warriors & Colin the Flesh Tearer.

 

Like July this was a great game. There where a lot of epic moments during the game & a lot of close combat between our force’s.

Round 3

Dying race

Mission – Fast Attack are scoring & side table set up

Army – Eldar

It has been some time since I last fought Eldar army & it was good to see I’d be battle against them during Round 3. Matt went on to win the best elder player award as well.

Like round 1 & 2, this was a brilliant game. There where a lot of turning points in the game but in the finial moments Matt slaughter the last of my troop units.

 

There where moment like when I had a Obliterators on one wound, but made quite a lot of armour save, smashing everthing he could in close combat or my Chaos Lord who slaughter the missile launcher unit of Eldar.

While Matt, his Harlquine was brutal & done a great job, I think they took down 2x squads of Chaos Marines & my Obliterator. While his Scorpion unit leader done a lot of damnge to 2x Champions & a Obliterator with his unit slaughter a squad & supported the Harlquine slaughter my second squad. Just it was cool, Matt had the unit leader with a spear & it just reminded me of a scene from ADB novel Void Stalker, I will not go into much on the novels so I do not spoil it for those who have not read it.

 

With day 1 over & three brilliant games. It was time pack up & then get food. Then later on a few of us stay for the Bugman Bar quiz, I would be with Andy, Rob (fought Throne of Skulls Nov 2010 & April last year) along with there friends. It was a good laught between all the gamer, with the quiz being base on Warhammer 40,000 question. But we ended up winning the Bugman Bar pub quiz. I’m just a bit gutted that apparently Sicarius is apparently not the Chapter Mater of the Ultramarines....

Day 2

Dark Vengeance

Army – Chaos

 

Day 2 of the event, after booking out of the hotel. It was time to go into Warhammer World for the second day & the last two games for the weekend.

First up was food, ever gamer need food. The Bacon rolls are brilliant from Bugman Bar & it great Bugman bar are servring fried breakfast over the past few years now.

 

But before walking into Bugman bar, I check to see what table I would be gaming on & who my oppent would be. Turn out I would be getting another re-match, against Matthew. I fought Matthew during Throne of Skulls April earily this year where he’d use his Thasound Son’s force during round 2.

Like before this was a brilliant game & Mathew had given me one of his Chaos Marines helmets that broke off one of his models. He rememeber me comment that all the trophies I had where base on armies I fought over the ten years & he notice that recently, a few of my Iron Warriors had Thasound Son’s trophies with them....

 

During the game both me & Matthew talk about the new codex Chaos Space Marines, about different army list idea & unit type & general how cool the brand new codex is. There so much freedom & so much chose in the codex. I really want to collect each of the Chaos Legions as soon as I can, but my Iron Warriors will be my favrout of all times

 

During the game the event team came up & said that my Iron Warriors where up for the Best army nominee. So after round 4, I started to set my army in the display cabint so people could vote for them during the launch hour.

Round 5

Oath of Moment

Mission - Big Guns never tire, Pitch battle set up

Army – Grey Knights

 

After launch & vote for best army. It was time to get ready for the last round. I would be against Mario with his Grey Knight army.

I was really happy to find out the table I would be battle on was right next to the display cabint my army was display on, this made life easy for me to carry the army & not worry about anyone bump into me by mistake.

 

Mario was a great oppent & this was a really tactical game. Turn 1 saw me killing his Palaidans Terminators & Drago. But as soon as his Dreadknight got into my battle line, it was hard to try take them out & being scoring for this mission made them even more danger.

I think if the game ended on turn 5 this might have been a draw, we got onto turn 6 & a dreadknight had kill the last Terminators, move onto the object. I think it was a 2pts difference between us. We both killed each other Warlords.

 

So overall 2 wins & 3 loss. Learnt a lot about 6th ed rule wise & just how my army work under the new rules. Also this was the first events for me to try out the brand new codex Chaos Marines. I will go into the list part in a moment.

I really enjoy Throne of Skulls October there. The event team really out do them each time. Like wise I said it before, I like the way Throne of Skulls is, being able to attend as many as you want & having them run though out the year. It great going down as I enjoy travel down to Warhammer World, being able to get FW item right there & as said there Warhammer World it self is a great place. All hobbiest should go to Warhammer World that least once.

 

Like wise I said about the Bugman bar quiz, Andy, Rob, myself & there friends ended up winning the quiz over all which was really cool

I am really happy about this. Just since I started attending tournaments back in 2002. My main aim has & always will be the army side, for Throne of Skulls this is the Army Nominee side where the event team pick x amount of armies & then have them on display during the launch hour on Sunday where the hobbiest who attend can vote for there armies.

Just as said I collect Iron Warriors for ten years & to get the army trophies really cool. Just this is due to my Iron Warriors have a lot of meaing to me, for exsample it because of this army back in 2005, I got to attend a NQ to HND model making course in Glasgow, also greatful for Graham McNeill recommend that course to me from Conflict Scotland 2005. So just really happy about this.

 

Also I mange to pick up Graham McNeill new Heresy novel during the weekend & get him to sign it along with the new codex Chaos.

Helluva nice army youve got there dude. I especially like the ultramarine strapped to the front of the rhino. Also your bases are killer. You put in the time and it shows.
