Ratboy1664
Hi all, I am planning on making a diarama of the Flesh Tearers attack on the militia at Gaius Point during the 3rd war for Armageddon. So far all I can discover is that Gaius Point is in the Fire Wastes of the North and my question is what colour is the soil on Armageddon, specifically the Fire Wastes, and what if any vegetation would be found there? Thanks in advance Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264090-armageddon-diorama/ Share on other sites

Inquisitor Kravin
If I recall correctly Armageddon has been described as having sulphorous deserts so I would expect yellow sand rather than red. From the descriptions of the searing heat, corrosive sandstorms and the few rivers being toxic sludge I would expect no vegetation at all except maybe tiny extremely hardy cactus like organisms. To break up your terrain I would recommend either rocks or mechanical wreckage. I expcet that with the harshness of the desert there are plenty of rusting vehicle hulks. Daevyll
Fire Wastes implies either a desert like environment or a volcanic soil. I find the latter more interesting, so I'd go for that. There are some pretty pictures available online for inspiration if you look for that, for example something like this : http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/biology/people/bailey/res/images/mtasocomp.gif Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264090-armageddon-diorama/#findComment-3218193 Share on other sites
Ratboy1664
Lol, so far I have got rust red, sulphuric yellow and volcanic grey! Was anything mentioned in codex:armageddon about the landscape? On a pure painting perspective sulphuric yellow I think would look good on the Flesh Tearers armour and would be pretty unique and unless someone can prove otherwise I think I will go with this :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264090-armageddon-diorama/#findComment-3218281 Share on other sites
Tox_boy
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Armageddon_(geography) read the lexicanum artical. it lists fire wastes, jungle, an icey area. There seems more than just chem waste desert. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264090-armageddon-diorama/#findComment-3218336 Share on other sites

NovemberIX
Something like the Dallol volcano in Ethiopia? National Geographic:Travel:Ethiopia:Dallol Volcano Except broken up with patches of glassed silica, and maybe a fine layer of ash mixed in and on top of things. Cheers NovemberIX that is really useful and unless someone has some cannon that says otherwise is the effect I will be going for. Vodunius
This image supports the yellow, red and grey interpretations! Battle For Armageddon on BoardGameGeek Note that map shows the continent of Armageddon Secundus, the Armageddon3 site showed the Fire Wastes continent as a whole being notably darker in general. lhg033
mid next month it looks like (among other juicy things: cultists, mega forces....) we'll be getting new basing kits: badlands and deathworld. no idea what these will contain - only have the name to go on from the upcoming releases of a local independant that stocks GW stuff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264090-armageddon-diorama/#findComment-3223108 Share on other sites
