Yosef Hausakluif
I want to try a schme for my upcoming Executioners army using a blue mettalic type color and was wondering if anybody had ever tried this beofre and what were their recipes? I remember back in the day GW actually had a blue metal flake type paint color in their range, but alas those days are looooong gone. I have a pot of old school blue ink left and was wondering if I should mix it directly with the boltgun metal, or use it as a heavy wash instead.... I figure drop or two mixed in with a little boltgun/led belcher and a little dark blue might do the trick. What are your recommendations from expeirence? Olis
vallejo do a couple of metalic blues in their model colour range. This. Try and get a hold of some Vallejo. It's a lot easier than trying to match each marine to the next. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264320-painting-blue-mettalic/#findComment-3220479 Share on other sites
Razblood
Vallejo Model Air - Artic Blue is what you need my friend. The greatest colour metallic paint in the history of history :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264320-painting-blue-mettalic/#findComment-3220504 Share on other sites
Arikel
Nice and easy way to paint metallics using GW metals and Washes. Even with the changes to the paint line up should be easy to find equivalents. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...=151098&hl= Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264320-painting-blue-mettalic/#findComment-3220792 Share on other sites
Yosef Hausakluif
Arikel: Thanks for the link, I remember that thread, but could not find it. As well, thanks to every one else for replying also to my question. Vallejo paints seem to be an excellentb resource. I don;t know if I want a mettalic blue color, or if I am looking more towards a gunmetal grey with a hint of blue wash....decisions, decisions! Thank you though. GhostLegion
I don;t know if I want a mettalic blue color, or if I am looking more towards a gunmetal grey with a hint of blue wash....decisions, decisions! Could try messing with Vallejo Model Color 70800: Gunmetal Blue. adding some silver to that should brighten it some, but it is a nice dark(ish) blue metalic base to work with... Lestat
Theres a guide in the new WD for painting Chaos Warriors - one of which is a metallic blue using leadbelcher as a base. This was followed by a layer of Ironbreaker, a wash of Nuln oil, a layer of Runefang steel and a glaze of Guilliman Blue. You could replace the Guilliman blue with any other wash/glaze to get another metallic based colour. PipX
An alternative to the Vallejo paints are colored metallic paints by Plaid/Delta Ceramcoat that can be had for pretty cheap from Walmart or Michaels. Vodunius
I remember back in the day GW actually had a blue metal flake type paint color in their range, but alas those days are looooong gone. It's that era of Citadel Colour which is now sold under the brand Coat d'Arms, the metalic blue is now sold as Enchanted Blue I believe (the Citadel Enchanted blue being renamed to something else).
