IK Viper
Good afternoon GK ppl who's forum I rarely visit, I have recently run into a problem... They call them Flamers of Tzzench... and I have considered allying in a stike squad to lay down warp quake to prevent their stupid, fluff ignoring, marketing ploy, broke alpha strikes, instead of bubble wrapping my guys and just accepting that I will loose a bunch of ppl unless they scatter poorly. My question is 2 fold, 1. how effective is this in practice vs. Flamers? assuming you go first obvioulsy since you can't cast it if they go first. and 2. I want to bring Communion to help my reserve rolls, does this power extend to allied units aka can I bring my Blood Angel Stormraven in on a 2+ if I cast this power? I have looked at your FAQ and see nothing stopping this but thought you would know Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264347-cross-board-allies-question/ Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Couple of things: Deployment rules: Daemons have the worst deployment rules in the game. Unless he has Flamers in both waves, he's not guaranteed to get them first turn. Also, if you get first turn or 'Seize' it (Coteaz can help there, he's not a bad Ally HQ), you can get 'Quake' happening early. Mech up: Daemons still suck hard at breaking vehicles. Then in your turn, you can fire out the top hatch, or use your vehicle wall to block movement+shooting lanes for the Flamers. Castle up: Daemons really don't have much to deal with this. Good castling means he has to deploy into your killzone, and provided you layer your castle properly, his Flamers shouldn't do much. Be prepared to sacrifice stuff to them, they are still pretty expensive and not very tough (massed fire kills them just fine). This is where cheap Ally infantry come in handy. Warp Quake: A single Strike squad split into Combat squads can easily shield your entire castle. The power is useless once the Flamers are on the board, but if you get first turn somehow, its hilarious. IIRC, Communion will work, as it simply says Reserve rolls. I wouldn't bring a Grandmaster solely for that though. His 'Grand Strategy' buff hasn't been FAQ'd either, so enjoy your scoring Terminators or Dreadnoughts.
