L30n1d4s
Obvious one here, but has anyone tried equipping a GK Termie Squad with a BHB and majority models with Falchions? At 47.5 points model (for a 10 man squad) that's 4 attacks base, 5 on the charge. HH can make the attacks S5 and, if you have a Libby in your army, you could actually use another HH and Quicksilver to make thos attacks S6 I10. Of course, you probably need a few hammers for AP2 and the BHB bearer doesn't get a NFW, but that is still pretty ridiculous in the number of attacks. Say you had the BHB carrier, 2 NDHs, and 7 models with Falchions.. attach that Libby (with falchions) and now you have 6 S10 AP 2 I1 attacks and 32 S6 AP3 I10 attacks, base, with 8 S10 AP2 I1 attacks and 40 S6 AP3 I10 attacks on the charge. Pretty decent. Anyone have any experience using this successfully? spartan249
It's ok on paper when compared to other terminators. However, most GK players run super low on points very quickly, so a "win more" upgrade is usually the first thing to go. When you expand the realm of comparison though, you're looking at a 500-700 point unit (including psycannons and Librarian) that outputs less then 50 attacks. 180-270 points buys you a unit that can easily exceed that. Terminators are good enough without spending any points to make them better at something they're already good at. It's not a matter of using this successfully, as there's no way it can't work. The real issue is just how efficient of a point expenditure this is. Vash
That unit with its Librarian is 700 pts, depending on what you take for upgrades. Thats almost as much as a Draigowing unit, 10 Paladins + Draigo = 1000 pts for me. Sure its 300 pts cheaper, but you get more, imo, with the Draigowing. More wounds, feel no pain, Draigo who soaks wounds and an offensive psychic power. Anyhow, usually we face 10 man units, ala Space marines. A normal 10 man unit of terminators with Nemesis force swords, Halberds and hammers will get 20 attacks or 30 attacks on the charge. Lets say we don't charge. 20 attacks will grant us 10 hits, and with Hammerhand we will wound/kill 6-7 space marines (perhaps probably 7-8 depending on the amount of hammers. I am calculating on S5 swords/halberds). Now, I dont know if you need to kill more than that really. Its basically enough to secure the win. A normal terminator unit like this for me costs 470 pts with its upgrades. Reclusiarch Darius
Yeah, falchions are complete overkill and you pay points for them. Terminators get hammers and halberds for free, and they are both superior (hammers break enemy 2+ saves and destroy vehicles with ease, halberds let you get your swings in before most enemy units). Here is my typical Terminator blob; Justicar w/halberd, Terminator w/Bro Banner, 2 x Terminators w/hammer+psycannon, 4 x Terminators w/hammers, 4 x Terminators w/halberds (475 points) Justicar+halberdiers go in the front rank to tank damage, hammers go in the middle, Bro Banner and psycannons go to the rear of the unit. Your halberd attacks will wipe most Marine units off the board and take large chunks out of horde units. When fighting TDA, the hammers aren't vulnerable to mutually assured destruction, as the halberdiers get removed as they are closest. Aethernitas
Things is that 700pts unit is total overkill for almost everything. The units that can stand even one melee phase against it can be counted on one hand. Therefor my main problem with the unt is that it will be already out in the open again in the opponents turn taking A LOT of firepower from his whole army after witnessing what they are capable of...
