Justaerin Fluff

I'm doing a Luna Wolves army. Now Betrayal has the Justaerin as an extra Terminator unit rather than replacing the usual lot. My question is, if a battle group was away from the main thrust (i.e. Horus) would Justaerin be involved? Would they be sent as bodyguard for the lead Captain (Praetor)?

Also, if I wanted to have them as loyal Sons of Horus turned back to Luna Wolves, would the Justaerin turn on Horus or would they remain loyal to Abaddon? I've never heard of any of the 1st company that didn't turn.

I'm planning out my army and thought I'd get a feeling form here first (of course I can always do what I want but still...)

As far as I can tell from Horus Rising I think each company had access to terminator units but the Justaerin were the 1st company's own, and although they may be 'loaned' out to a company I doubt that they'd be attached to a company that weren't with the main fleet.

But of course, you can always go your own way of things but this is just my interpretation of it.

The Justaerin are the Terminator elements of the First Company and as such fell under the direct command of Abaddon. While there are no recorded Expeditions of Luna Wolves who operated outside of the 63rd, it wouldn't be too far-fetched if a small detatchment, say a squad or two, acted as bodyguards for the commander of that Expedition since usually very high ranking Astartes were put in charge and it is more than possible that one of these Astartes could have been a sub-captain from the First Company as there is at least one sub-captain in the First Company already(Ekaddon of Cutulan Reaver Squad, Horus Rising).

I would think 1st company to be at least 1000 strong that would mean most likely 10 captains.

No reason why one would not be tasked away from the expedition. If the mission was important enough Abaddon would surely want one of his "men" on site as his "men" will not make a mess of the mission.

Major trait of The SoH is thinking they could always do a better job if they did it themselves.
