MK VI Artificer Armour

Recommended Posts

Okay, I want to have a captain on a Bike for my Crimsons Fists. Equipment: Artificer Armour and Power Fist.

To make him stand out from all the other bikers, I want him to have a MK VI based armour (apropriate Torso from Tactical Squad, Corvus Helmet with fist). He'll get the eagle-headed backpack and the Iron Halo, too.

Now my questions are: How do I make him more recognizable as someone special? How would I modify MK VI Armour to look more artificer? I already modified the biker legs to to the old 'no extra knee pads' style, but that's just the normal MK VI style. I thought about adding the Company Champion's shoulder pads to begin with.

Any suggestions? Or do you think that's enough?

He's certainly going to stand out from the rest of the squad - every other biker model is in bog standard MkVIII armour with no frills, barring add-on kits like the Chaplain or the White Scars. Perhaps adding a few trinkets (Terminator Honours or something) might help but besides that he's probably a-ok.

Well, here he is. He's not glued with plastic glue, just some solvent free, easy to remove glue to try out the bits. I'm okay with him, I think.

Left shoulder Pad is not in the correct position, will fix this.

BTW, should I better post this in Work in progress now?

He shoots! <moves thread to WIP> He scores! And the crowd goes wild!

Like yourself Suecicus I always found the mono-posed bikers a bit dull, so I customised a small squad for my Raven Guard army.

Now, first thing to note is that to make a biker different, remember you can modify the bike as well as the Marine. That's everything from storage, to whip aerials, pennants or gubbinz like the different bolters I've used here (each bike has a different type), the 'targeter' on the front fairing of the Sergeant's bike and markings/paintjobs. You can also add little details, like this set of instruments on an attack bike, to differentiate each machine.

For the Marines, bionics are a great trick, the Sarge has a bionic leg and the guy at far left has a simple bionic claw for a right hand. Bionic legs are a great way to add a little variety, I found it easier than making Mk.VI legs anyway (in the end I cheated and cleaned up some Chaos biker legs). And again, markings and paint scheme are easy ways to mark out characters, leaders and specialists on bikes.

And finally, you can use the base to make a model stand out. I raised the Sgt a fraction by having him ride over a broken Aquila, you can do the same or you can add other terrain features ranging from broken and battered enemies to pools of sludge and more.

Maybe add crux terminatus' to the legs, or give him gold ornamentation- so long as your lower ranks don't have too much gold, then his current state should be enough. Convert the bike to be more of a "chopper" style? Targeting systems on the bolters?
